The Rev’d John Moore and the Bev’d Ewan Christian vicar Gen’l
The humble Petition of Ann Lace, widow, of KK Andreas
Sheweth That your Pet’r Husband Charles Lace departed this life
On or about the 16th Day of Nov Last Intestate and
The Rev’d Court Decreed his two children namely Charles
And Isabel Lace joint adm. Of all his goods chattels
And effects and as the goods of the Dec’d are allocated
By “___” to pay of the Debts then due on said Dec’d
And very little remaining for the said children by
Said inventory and “______” appears and as the
Tuition and maintenance of said children are committed to their
Said mother Ann Lace, who hath nothing to maintain them,
And as the one quarter of the estate are appraised by
Four sworn man vis. George Radcliffe, “___” Harrison, Dan’l Cowell
And Stanley Kneale, to the sum of six pounds eighteen shillings
And six pence as by said Jury return Dated 26th Dec 1785
May appear and as the Burden and maintenance of said
Children are upon the said widow, since she “___” Dec’d until
Now without any thing to Maintain them but her own goods.
She therefore beg and pray that your Reverence will be
Graciously pleased to take her case under your consideration
And allow her the yearly Income of said lands to Maintain
Clothes and keep said children to school until the said
Charles Lace will come to the age of fourteen years or
As your reverence shall form must and your Pet’r
For your Reverence shall pray.
Ordered that this matter of the beforegoing
Petition do come on to be heard at a Consistory Court to
Be holden at KK Michael on Thursday the 27th instant
Whereof all proper parties or persons do have legal notice
And service,
Given KK Patrick 21st July 1786

Michael on the 25th day of Nov 1785
Charles Lace of the parish of KK Andreas
Having departed this life on or about the
16th Day of Nov instant Intestate and this
Court having intelligence thereof hath decreed
His two children namely Charles and
Isabel Lace joint administrators of all his
Goods chattels and effects movable and
Immovable whatever who being under age
William Lace their uncle ad William Radcliffe
Their Grandfather are sworn to be their
Guardians and supervisors and the said William
Radcliffe is also by the consent of their
Mother Ann Lace to whom the tuition and
Maintenance of the said children are committed
Sworn well and truly to administer the said
Goods and effects in trust for the said
Children, to pay all the just debts of the
Intestate so far as the said effects will extend
And the Law shall bind him and to return
A perfect inventory of the said goods and
Effects to the Registry of this Court To
These ends he hath given pledges in form
Of Law namely William Cleator of Andreas
And John Cottier of the parish of Lezayre.
