In the name of God Amen
I Elizabeth Taubman of Castletown widow and relict of Matthew
Taubman late of Ballanorris in the parish of KK Arbory deceased being
advanced in years and infirm in body but of sound and disposing mind and
memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament and
revoking all former wills in manner and form following that is to say.
First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through
the merits and intercession of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to obtain
pardon and remission of my manifold sins and my body to the earth to be
interred at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named and as to my
worldly goods and effects that remain undisposed of (most of my
children being already provided for) I give and dispose thereof as
follows.
I give and devise unto my eldest son and heir John Taubman all my right
interest and title in all purchased lands of what nature or kind soever
which have been already settled upon him and which he is now in the
actual possession of together with the best silver cup and the clock
which were willed to my said son by my said husband.
I give and devise unto my other son Thomas Taubman all my right to
some arrears of interest on certain mortgages which my said husband
had on the estate of Coriman in like manner as he my said husband has
left his right to the said arrears to my said son Thomas.
I give and bequeath unto my said son Thomas and unto my two daughters
Catherine Moore the wife of Rev John Moore and Jane Gawn the wife of Edward
Gawn of Ballagawn (they being married and already provided for) the sum of
five shillings each.
I give and devise unto my youngest daughter Margaret Taubman all that
my moiety or half of the house in Castletown wherein I now dwell with
the outhouses gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging.
I give and bequeath unto my grandson John Taubman the son of said Thomas
Taubman my son the sum of forty pounds Manks over and besides the sum of
fifty one pounds ten shillings British advanced and lent him
on his promissory note bearing date 18th December 1781 which my executrix is
to cancel and deliver up unto my said grandson.
I give and bequeath unto Margaret Moore my granddaughter the daughter of the
said Catherine Moore the sum of twenty pounds and to Elizabeth Catherine
Moore the sum of twenty pounds and to Elizabeth Catherine and Charlotte the
other daughters of the said Catherine Moore the sum of
five pounds each.
I give and bequeath to all and every the daughters of Elizabeth Christian
als Taubman my daughter deceased the sum of five pounds each and the like
sum of five pounds unto Catherine the daughter of my said son Thomas
Taubman.
I give and bequeath unto all and every the daughters of Jane Gawn my
own daughter the sum of five pounds each and the same to be paid by Edward
Gawn their father out of the thirty pounds lent him by my late husband on
his note bearing dated the 15th Sep 1767.
I give and bequeath unto the poor of KK Malew and Arbory the sum of ten
pounds to be distributed on or about the first day of July after my decease
by my executrix in such shares and proportions and in such manner.
Lastly I give devise and bequeath unto my said daughter Margaret
Taubman all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels
rights credits and effects of what nature or kind soever and appoint her
executrix and residuary legatee in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and mark this 6th day of May 1784.

testament in the presence of:

At a Chapter Court hold at Castletown Nov 7th 1786
Executrix is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for
the payment of debts and legacies namely William Clague one of the witnesses
and John Clucas of KK Santan
