7 Douglas
This is the last will and testament
of me Jane Bridson Spinster made and
published by me at Douglas in the Isle of Man
this fifteenth day of November in the year of
our Lord one thousand seven hundred and
eighty five whereby I revoke and make
void all forms and other will or wills by
me at any time heretofore made. And –
First I give and bequeath the sum of one
hundred pounds British to my Dear
Brother in Law Mr William Boates
Merchant and his children equally to be
divided amongst them. And I give
the sum of ten pounds British apiece to
my dear friends Miss Pilkington
Miss Strange and Miss Blackburn, of
Liverpool to buy mourning rings with And
I give the sum of thirty pounds British
to the Chaplain and Wardens of Douglas aforsaid
to be by them laid out at interest
and I desire that the interest thereof be p[aid]
and distributed to and xxxx among
such poor persons in Douglas, at such
times and in such proportions , as the
for the time being
xxxx Chaplain and wardens ^ shall
xxxx xxxx xx xxxx think proper And
I give and bequeath my Gold watch
and Trinkets and Equipage thereof
belonging unto my Dear Sister in Law
Ann Bridson wife of my dear Brother
William Bridson, Merchant, And I
give and bequeath all and singular
wearing Apparal and Jewels unto an[d]
equally between my two Nieces
Ann and Alice Bridson Daughters
of Mr William Bridson and I
give devise and bequeath all the rest
[residual] and remainder of my personal
Estate and Effects Monies Bonds Goods
and Chattels of what nature or
kind soever and whenever unto my
loving Brother William Bridson
as his own absolute property, and do
appoint him sole executor thereof. In

my hand and seal the day and
