This is affirmed to be the last will and
testament of John Corkan of Glanrushen in
the parish of KK Patrick who departed this
life on the 3rd of March and this will was
written the 8th of March 1787, he being in
perfect mind and memory at the making thereof.
First, he committed his soul to Almighty God
and his body to Christian burial.
Item, he left his saddle and his largest
pot to his stepson Thomas Quay.
Lastly, he nominated and appointed his
daughter Ellinor Clague als Corkan to be
whole and sole Executrix of all the rest
of his goods of what kind soever moveable
and unmoveable excluding all other craving
friends with six pence apiece legacy.

At a Consistory Court holden
at Thomas Quine’s in the parish
of KK Patrick on the 29th March 1787:
Robert Clague husband of the Executrix
within named is sworn in Court in form of
Law and hath given pledges for the payment
of debts and legacies, namely the witnesses
of this will.

Vicar General:
The humble Petition of Ellinor
Clague als Corkan of KK Patrick:
humbly sheweth,
That your Petitioners father and
mother John and Isabell Corkan
have lately departed this life
and your Petitioner is come to
be Executrix of the goods of both
her Father and Mother and in
the years 1777 the said John
Corkan and Isabel his wife granted
the one half of their goods to
one Paul Quine in a Deed of
Contract with their daughter
Margret the one quarter of said
goods to be possessed by the
said Paul Quine and wife at
the death of either the said
John Corkan & his wife and
the other quarter to be
possessed by the said Paul
Quine and Margt his wife at
the death of the longer liver o
f the said John Corkan & Isabell
his wife and about the year
1781 one John Kissack who is
married to Ann Corkan their
daughter came to live and
cohabit along with the said
John Corkan and Isabel his wife
and some time after the said
John Corkan and John Kissack
came to agreement and John
Corkan promised the one half
of the produce of his cows
yearly to the said John Kissack
during the lifetime of Isabel
his wife and now the said
Paul Quine and John Kissack
think to seize on all the
goods and effects of the
deceased and are dividing
the said goods between them
and think to leave nothing
for your Petitioner the
Executrix;
Your Petitioner most humbly
prayeth that your Reverence
will be pleased to grant her
your authority to summon
the witnesses of the wills
of her Father and Mother
before the next Consistory
Court to have the said wills
confirmed in Court that your
Petitioner may obtain
relief in the premises
which granted your Petitioner
as dutifully bound shall pray &c.
Ordered that the matter of the before
going Petition do come on to be heard
at a Consistory Court to be holden at
the House of Thomas Quine in the Parish
of Kirk Patrick on Thursday next
whereof all proper parties and witnesses
to have legal notice and serving.
Given at KK Patrick 24th March 1787,
