23       Rushen
In the name of God. Amen. I William Qualtrough 
of Kentragh in the parish of KK Christ Rushen 
being infirm in body but of perfect mind & memory 
do make my last will and testament in manner 
and form following: 
First, I commend my soul to God and my body to 
be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix. 
Item, I leave unto the poor of the parish two 
bowls of barley to be distributed b the Vicar 
and Wardens to poor and distressed families 
not to common beggars. 
Item, I leave and bequeath unto my three sons 
vizt. William, Thomas & John and unto my 
daughter Jane ten guineas apiece. 
Item, I leave unto my son Edward who is abroad 
twenty guineas in case he be alive to come for 
it and enjoy it, otherwise that it shall be 
divided equally between the before mentioned 
surviving legatees. 
Lastly, I nominate, constitute, and appoint 
my loving wife Elizabeth Qualtrough sole 
executrix of all the rest of my goods moveable 
and immoveable of what kind or nature soever, 
cutting off all other claimers by --- with 
six pence legacy apiece. And I hereby revoke 
all former wills b me made, ratifying and 
confirming this alone for my last will and 
testament as witness my hand this 22 of Sept 1781.

At Chapter Court holden at Castletown 
the 16th October 1788, 
the executrix is sworn in Court in form of 
Law and hath given pldeges for the payment 
of debts and legacies, namely the Revd. 
John Clague Vicar of Rushen and 
Mr. Wm Qualtrough her son
