51      Bride
In the name of God, Amen. I John Christian 
formerly of Kionlough in the Parish of KK 
Bride but at present residing in the parish 
of KK St Ann, being well advanced in years, 
but in a tolerable good state of health, 
perfect mind and memory, and considering 
the uncertainty of this life, am disposed 
to make my last will and testament in 
manner following.  
First I commit my soul to God and my 
body to Christian burial.  
Secondly, I leave and bequeath unto my 
daughter Jane Callow als Christian all 
that my mortgage which I obtained from 
William Cowle of Greneby on the Archdeacons 
Close in KK Christ Lezayre subject to the 
sum of forty four shillings which I 
borrowed from the Revd. Charles Crebbin 
upon security of the same with what 
interest may be due him.  
Item, I leave to my said daughter Jane 
all that my mortgage in Ballaskeig in 
the Parish of KK Maughold as assignment 
of which I received from the Revd John 
Crellin of KK Michael.  
Item, I leave to my daughter Elizabeth 
twenty shillings legacy.  
Lastly I nominated and appoint my aforesaid 
daughter Jane whole and sole Executrix of 
all my worldly goods moveable and immoveable 
of what nature soever.  
Also excluding any person or persons that 
should claim any interest in my will with 
six pence legacy apiece.

the 11 of December 1784 in the presence 
of us:

At a Chapter Court holden 
at Legacy the 10th June 1788: 
The executrix is sworn in Court in form of 
Law and hath given pledges for the payment 
of debts & legacies namely the witnesses 
of this will.
