I John Bridson of Boltane and parish Clerk of Malew being now much advanced
in age and weak in body but of perfect mind and sound and disposing memory.
Do hereby make this my will and testament, revoking and annulling all other
will or wills that might have heretofore been
made by me making this my last will in manner following:
First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
Item: I leave to my eldest son and heir namely Arthur Bridson all my
rights being one half of what ever lands I purchased namely
Ballaquaggins Creggans being Abby Lands and another parcel which I
bought from William Preston called the Close Bane with my rights of a small
parcel at the Cowl Joyning said Creggans to him and his heirs as inheritance
after the death of my wife Catherine Bridson she holding and enjoying the
full benefit and profits of the same during her natural life
and when my said son or his successor comes to possess the premises.
He is to take ---- undergo and be subject to one half of what
encumbrance may attend the same.  As also the sum of ten pounds legacy. Item
I leave to my daughter Ann the sum of seventeen pounds legacy.
Item I leave and bequeath to my son Robert the sum of seventeen pounds. Item
I leave a legacy of ten pounds to my son John.
Item I leave a legacy of five pounds to my son Philip with what is already
given him in order to set him up in away of living.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Cath Bridson
whole and sole executrix of all the rest of my worldly goods and effects
be they of which kind so ever.  Including my right in the mortgage which
I now have in and on apart of Willm Murry Esquires land called Talloo
Gick as also my rights to the mortgage which I have on John Kneale's houses
in Ballasalby.  The same to be at her own pleasure to dispose of it as she
thinks proper.   John Bridson

At a Chapter Court holden at Castle town the 12th day of Nov 1789. The
executors is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the
payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will.
