Mary Cross, 1789

The last will and testament of Mary Cross wife of John Cross of the
parish being sick in body but of sound disposing mind memory and
understanding made and published the same in manner following.
First she committed her soul to God and body to Christian burial.
Item she bequeathed to her said husband all and every her estate of houses
and lands quarterland and intack lands whatever.
Item she willed to her daughter Jane the sum of six pounds.
Item she bequeath to her three grandson namely John, Robert, and
Thomas the sum of five pounds each.
And appointed her said loving husband John Cross sole and whole
executor and residuary legatee of all and every her goods, chattels,
credits, and effects whatever.  And a half a crown each  to the witnesses of
this her last will and testament.

At a Chapter Court holden at K Michael June 16th 1789
The executor is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the
payment of debts and legacies namely the witnesses of the will.

Robert Corlet husband of Jane the legatee named in the within will
acknowledged to have received the sum of six pounds a legacy
bequeathed his said wife Jane by the last will and testament of her
mother Mary Cross and he doth hereby acquit release exonerate and discharge
the executor of the last will and testament of said Mary Cross of every part
of said legacy of six pounds.  Witness his subscription this 27 Oct 1789.
Robert Corlet
Whereas Mary Cross the motheršs testatrix did by her last will and testament
bequeath unto her three grandson namely John, Robert and Thomas the sum of
five pounds each.  Their father Robert Corlett this
day acknowledged to have received the same from the executor of the
last will and testament of said Mary Cross and hath given pledges for the
forth coming of the same for the legatees use vizt David Corlett of Ramsey
and Wm Christian both of the KK Maughold
