72      Andreas
In the name of God, amen. The will and testament of 
John Killip of the parish of Kirk Andreas who 
departed this life on the 26th of March 1789, being 
weak in body but of perfect mind and memory at the 
making thereof. And first of all, he gives and 
recommends his soul into the hands of Almighty God 
that give it and his body to earth to be buried 
in decent Christian burial. And as touching such 
worldly goods wherewith it pleased God to bless 
him in this life he did give and dispose of the 
same in the following manner and form. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his beloved daughter 
Joney the wife of William Christian twenty shillings 
legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his beloved daughter 
Elanor the wife of John Corlett twenty shillings legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his beloved daughter 
Catherine the wife of John Crebbin twenty shillings legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his dear wife four 
pounds and the bed we lie upon furnished and the chest. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his granddaughter 
Jane Christian one pound legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his randdaughter 
Joney Christian one pound legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his granddaughter 
Elanor Christian ten shilling legacy. 
Item, he left and bequeathed to his graddaughter 
Catharine Corlett ten shillings (according to 
the currency of this Isle) legacy and ordered 
that the before mentioned legacies is not to be 
paid to the legatees till the money be redeemed 
out of the mortgaged land. 
Lastly, he nominated and appointed his son in 
law William Christian sole executor of all the 
rest of his goods whatsoever.

Thomas Corlett, 
John Harrison. 

At a Chapter Court holden at 
Lezayre June 7, 1789, 
the executor is sworn in Court in form of Law 
and hath given pledges for the payment of debts 
and legacies namely the witnesses of the will. 

We John Corlett husband of Elinor Corlett, 
John Crebbin husband of Catharine, Elinor Christian, 
John Teare husband of Cath. Corlett all of us do 
hereby acknowledge to be fully paid and satisfied 
the respective legacies bequeathed us by the last 
will and testament of John Killip and we do each 
of us hereby release, acquit, exonerate, and 
discharge the executor of the last will and 
testament of said John Killip of all claims or 
demands for or on account of our respective 
legacies. The said John Crebbin also acknowledges 
to be paid the legacy of four pounds bequeathed 
by the testator John Killip to his wife[?]. As 
witness our names and marcs this 11th August 1796.
