In the name of God Amen the Last Will and Testament of Anne Key alias Karran of Knockmoar in 
the Parish of Kirk Patrick made on the 24th November 1788 being in perfect mind and memory at 
the making thereof.  First she committed her Soul to Almighty God and her Body to Christian 
Burial.

Item:  She left unto her daughter Margaret Gell the sum of one Guinea.

Item:  She left unto her daughter Jane Karran the sum of two Guineas.

Item:  She left unto her Grand daughter Margaret Sansbury her oldest cow and her best mantle and 
her dresser and shelves and all the flax that was between them and all the cloaths that was on or 
about the said Margaret Sansburys bed and as much Chequar as will be a shirt for her husband 
Thomas Sansbury and the sum of one Guinea and her small pot.

Item:  She left and bequeathed unto her son John Key the sum of Ten Guineas and a piece of new 
stuff and two petty coats and her wearing gown of blue and red stuff to the said John Keys wife.

Item:  She left unto her daughter Anne Kinloey (Kinley) the sum of One Crown and what over cash 
the said Anne Kinloey (Kinley) owed to her for the Hieffer that was between them.

Item:  She left unto her daughter Alice Cashin the sum of One Crown Legacy.

Item:  She left unto her Witnesses of this Will the sum of half a crown a piece.

Lastly she nominated and appointed her daughter Isabel Waterson whole and Sole Executrix of all 
the rest of her Goods and Effects of what kind so ever moveable and unmoveable.

At a Consistory Court holden at the house of Thomas Quine in the Parish of Kirk Patrick this day 
the 8th day of January 1789 Patrick Waterson husband of the Executrix is sworn Executor in Court 
in form of Law and hath given pledge as for the payment of Debts and Legacies namely Richard 
Quirk and Paul Quirk both of Kirk Patrick.

We William Gell and Thomas Karran both of  Kirk Patrick do hereby acknowledge to have received 
from Patrick Waterson the Executor of the Last Will and Testament of Ann Key of the said Parish 
late deceased the Legacies bequeathed to us in the said Will and do hereby respectively acquit 
exonerate and discharge the said Patrick Waterson his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns 
of the same and every part thereof.

At Kirk Patrick 28th November 1789 William Gell and Thomas Karran the subscribing Parties to the 
beforegoing Release and Discharge acknowledge the same.

To the Reverend Evan Christian Vicar General The Humble Petition of Patrick Waterson of the 
Parish of Kirk Patrick Sheweth that your Petitioners Mother in-Law Anne Key of Knockmoar of the 
said Parish Widow late deceased nominated and appointed her daughter your Petitioners wife Isabel 
Waterson whole and sole Executrix of all her Goods and Effects and Residuary Legatee to pay and 
discharge all her Just Debts and Legacies and your Petitioners Brother in-Law Thomas Key thinks 
to withhold what Goods of the deceased is in his keeping from the said Executrix so that your 
Petitioner is obliged to carry provender Daily from his own house to Knockmoar to supply a couple 
of beasts belonging to the deceased as the said Thomas Key supplyeth them not and as the most part 
of the said Goods are lying in the hands of Strangers and subject to waste and perishable your 
Petitioner is obliged to apply to Your Reverence for relief in the premises.  Therefore your 
Petitioner most humbly prays Your Reverence will be pleased to grant him your authority to Charge 
the next of kin to the said Anne Key and the Witnesses of her Will to appear before the next 
Consistory Court to have her Will proved and confirmed according to Law which Granted your 
Petitioners as Dutifully bound shall pray.   E.V.C.

Ordered that the Matters of the beforegoing Petitioner do come on to be heard at a Consistory Court 
to be holden at the house of Thomas Quine in this Parish on Thursday next whereof all Proper 
Parties and Witnesses to have legal Stature and Service.

January the 9th 1789 Thomas Sansbury enters a claim against the son of Anne Key for the sum of 
five pounds two shillings and 14 pence serviced the Law.


January 11th 1790 Thomas Sansbury husband of Margaret Sansbury Grand Daughter of the Testator 
Ann Key acknowledge this day to have received the cow, mantle, dresser, flax, bed cloaths chequer 
the sum of One Guinea and a small pot the said several articles being a Legacy bequeathed to his 
said wife Margaret Sansbury she doth hereby acquit release exonerate and discharge the executor of 
the Last Will and Testament of the said Ann Key of all the foresaid.  Witness his mark to his name 
the day and year above.

I John Key do hereby acknowledge to have received the sum of Ten Guineas a piece of new stuff 
two petty coats a wearing gown of blue and red stuff, the said several articles being a legacy 
bequeathed by the Last Will and Testament of my mother Ann Key and do hereby acquit release 
exonerate and discharge the executor of the Last Will and Testament of said Ann Key of all the 
foresaid articles as Witness my mark to my name this 11th January 1790.
