Maughold
The last will and testament of Thomas Corteen who departed this life on the
12th of May 1790. Being of perfect mind and memory at the making hereof.
First he committed his soul to God and his body to a Christian burial. Item
He left and bequeathed to his grandson Thos Corteen one guinea.
To his two granddaughters Ann and Sarah Corteen one guinea equally between
them.
Item He left to his daughter Margaret one crown.
Item He left to his granddaughter Ann Cashin one half crown and to his
granddaughter Ellinor Callow one half Crown.
Item He left to William Creche his wife one guinea.
He left to his granddaughter Catherine Moore one guinea and to his grandson
Daniel Callow a sheep and lamb.
Item He left to his son Robt two coolers and barrel and all the pewter
dishes that was in the house and also half of the interest that was in
arrears on a certain bill mortgage which he had on certain houses in Ramsey
lately called David Callisteršs houses.
Item He left to his daughter in law Margaret Corteen the new oak chest which
was on the loft.
He declared that John Kirmeen of Ramsey owed him fourteen shillings British
that Edward Callow owed him one guinea that Wm Callow of
Cradle Veg did owe him thirteen shillings and whatsoever Saml Corkill
owed him he left it wholly to himself and to all that craves right to his
will six pence each. And to the witnesses one English Shilling each.
Lastly He nominated constituted and appointed his two sons vizt Thos
and John Corteen whole and joint executors of all the rest of his goods
and effects of what kind or nature soever.

At a Chapter Court held at Lezayre on the 20th Oct 1790 The executors are
sworn in court in form of law as also to be faithful and just each to
the other the division of the residuum of the testators estate and have
given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely the
witnesses of this will.
