In the name of God Amen I Margrett Key of Peeltown being weak in body but of perfect and sound
memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner as following, I commit my soul to
God and my body to Christian burial.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Ellinor Key all my concerns of houses and gardens in
Peeltown of what nature soever either by purchase mortgage assignment. And Thomas Key the
husband of the Testatrix consents that his part all of the said concerns shall devolve unto the said
daughter after his decease and leaving twelve pounds on said daughter out of said concerns to be
paid unto my daughter Margrett Kermode and the same to be paid allowing foure the payment
thereof after my decease or in case said daughter dies intestate the said twelve pounds to fall unto
her daughter Margrett Kermode.
Item: I leave also unto my said daughter Margrett Kermode a black silk gown and a black Kellow
mankey pedi coat.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto my son John Mylechreest all whats right title and property I have
or might have up to that meadow of crops. The Testatrix further declares that there was some few
legacy left to the aforesaid John Mylechreest and Margrett Kermode alias Mylechreest by their
father which the Testatrix declares to be said but not cancelled upon record and if in case they or
either of them would go to Law for the same with my Executrix hereafter mentioned that they or
either of them so (prosecuting) shall loose that before named legacy left them.
Lastly: I leave nominate and appoint my daughter Ellinor Key whole and sole Executrix of all the
rest of my goods moveable and immoveable of what kind or denomination soever excluding any
person or persons that shall claim any further right to my Effects with sixpence Legacy in testimony
hereof I have hereunto subscribed my name the date above written.

At a Chapter Court holden at Kirk Patrick in 1790.
The Executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law hath given pledges for the payment of Legacies
namely John Kaighin and Thomas Kaighin the Witnesses of the said Thomas Key has given his
consent to bequests made his daughter Ellinor Key as fully expressed in the Will.

April 25th 1791 John Crain enters a claim against the Executrix of Margrett Key for the sum of 10
Pounds.
Whereas there has been some Disputes and Lawsuits between Margrett Kermode of Kirk ? and her
sister Ellinor Crellin wife of Thomas Crellin of Peeltown and to avoid all Disputes and Lawsuits
concerning the same both parties has this day come to the following agreement.
Therefore Know All Men by these presents that I Margret Kermode doth hereby acknowledge to
have received from the hands of Thomas Crellin Brother In-Law to the aforesaid Margrett Kermode
the just and full sum of 12 Pounds currency of this Isle which said sum was left and bequeathed by
Margrett Key of Peeltown their mother of the aforesaid parties in her Last Will and Testament. The
said Will bearing date 24th March 1788 and I the aforesaid Margrett Kermode do hereby acquit
exonerate and discharge the aforesaid Ellinor and Thomas Crellin their Heirs Executors
Administrators and Assigns from such sums or disputes as can or might arise from the contents of
the aforesaid Will mentioned and this under the penalty of 30 Pounds Sterling to ? and paid
according to Law in Witness hereof I have hereunto added my mark to my name this 7th day of July
1795.
