Know all men by these present that I John Caine Yaher of the parish of KK
Michael diverse good causes and reason me hereunto moving but chiefly and
more especially for and in consideration of the natural love and peculiar
regard and affectionate esteem which I have and do bear
towards my son William Caine of the said parish also for and in
consideration of the sum of five shillings to me in hands paid before the
signing hereof by my said son.  And likewise for and in consideration of
the several conditions obligations restrictions and reservations herein
after mentioned have given granted settled and estated and by these present
do give grant settle and estate upon my said son William all and every my
estate of houses and lands whatever situate in the parish of KK Michael and
Lezayre or elsewhere accepting what is herein after
mentioned and reserved together with all and every my goods chattels credits
and effects whatsoever -  To have and to Hold unto him my said son William
the said premises with their appurtenances forever commencing from
immediately after my decease and I do hereby reserve out of the before
recited premises the house built by my son John on the premises and wherein
he now resides and do hereby settle and estate the same upon my said son
John together with my part of the little garden after my decease if my said
son John should accept - thereof other wise
I exclude him off with six pence as legacy  payable unto him by my said
son William and the said William Caine Do hereby oblige himself to pay
in further consideration of the settlement the sum of forty shillings
unto the poor of KK Michael and to be distributed among the poor by my said
son William immediately after my decease.  And the said William
Caine doth also further covenant and agree by and with his said father that
he will take proper care that  his said father be decently attended
maintained nourished and duly supplied with the necessaries of life
suitable for his condition in his drooping and declining estate for and
during his natural life and after his decease to see him decently buried
and pay off all and every his lawful and just debts.  And for the faithful
performance of all and singular this Deed of Settlement I the said John
Caine do hereby firmly bind and oblige myself my heirs executors
administrators and assigns in the penalty of seven hundred pounds sterling.
As witness my subscription or mark my name this 9th day of January 1788.

Thomas Myleworry and John Caine the witnesses to the before written Deed of
Settlement deposed on the Holy Evangelist that they were personally by and
present when John the executing party duly executed
the same as and for his proper act and deed.

At a Court Baron holden in Ballaugh for Michael Sheading this 17th day of
May 1791.
The before written Deed of Settlement having been proved before the
High Bailiff and now openly published in court and no objection offered
against it the same is therefore allowed of and confirmed

At a Consistory Court holden in the Court House in the parish of KK
Michael on Thursday the 23d day of February 1792.
The beforegoing Deed of Settlement having been proved before the High
Bailiff and confirmed at a Court Baron holden in Ballaugh the 17th day of
May 1791 and John Caine the grantor having lately departed this life, the
same is  accepted as and for his last will and testament and William
Caine the grantee is sworn in Court in form of Law.   And hath given pledges
for the payment of the said grantor's debts and gifts namely
John Quiggin and John Cannell of Ballacarnane both of the parish of KK
Michael

The humble petition of William Caine of KK Michael
Sheweth:  That your petitioner's father John Caine of said parish
departed this life in the month of December last intestate that some
time before his decease he the said John Caine your petitioner's father made
a Settlement of all his houses and lands, goods, and effects and among other
things settled a sum of money to be paid to the poor of said parish and as
the settlement so made are made on your petitioner and as their are several
parcels of goods that wants to be divided between your petitioner and his
mother and also the money due to the poor to be paid and many other things
to be done which your petitioner cannot do
without applying to your Reverence for relief. In tender consideration
thereof your petitioner humbly prays that your Reverence will be pleased to
grant an order that the aforesaid settlement may be received to
record at the next Consistory Court so that your petitioner may be put into
the possession of the good and effects of said deceased according to said
settlement the granting of which will cause your petitioner to pray. Ordered
that the beforegoing petition do come on to be heard at a Consistory Court
to be holden in the Court House in the parish of KK Michael on Thursday next
whereof all proper parties and persons to have due notice.
