Malew
The last will and testament of Mary Taggart wife of William Taggart of
Ballahott in the parish of Malew who departed this life about the 9th
July 1974 and who being sound and perfect in mind and memory at the making
hereof.
First She committed her soul to Almighty God and her body to Christian
burial.
Secondly she left and bequeathed to her eldest son William Taggart the sum
of five pounds British and to her son John Taggart she left the sum
of ten pounds British.
Thirdly She left and bequeathed to her three daughters vizt Cathrine,
Isabel, and Mary Taggart the one half of a a certain dwelling house and
garden lying situate on Church Street in Castletown to be equally
between them and also the sum of thirty pounds British a piece and also to
Cathrine she left a feather bed and bolster to Isabel a feather bed and
bolster and to Mary a feather bed and bolster and a cotton quilt and also an
oak chest and to her said three daughters she left all her wearing apparel
equally between them and to the poor she left the sum of twenty shillings
Fourthly she left and bequeathed all the rest of her worldly goods and
effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever to her loving and affectionate
husband William Taggart and nominating and appointing him
to be whole and sole executor thereof and excluding all cravers with six
pence a piece as legacy.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown on the 2d day of October 1794. The
executor is sworn in court in form of law and also guardian and supervisor
of the child under age and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and
legacies namely Wm Bridson and Wm Shimmin both of
Malew.

John Caine husband of Mary Taggart acknowledged to have received from Thos
Tear husband of Cath Taggart executrix of Wm Taggart who was executor of
Mary Taggart decease the legacy of thirty pounds British bequeathed unto the
said Mary Taggart in the annexed will of Mary
Taggart deceased and acquits exonerates releases and discharges the said
Thos Tear his exors admors and assigns of the said legacy.
Witness his mark to his name this 30th day of April 1812.
