       To the Revd Wm Clucas Vicar Genl
       The humble Petition of John Creetch, Wm Creetch,
       Cathrine Creetch, and Danl Kinread (in behalf
       of himself & his wife Mary Kinread alias
       Creetch) all of KK Maughold
Sheweth
   That John Creetch (Mariner) Brother to
   the Petitioners departed this Life in Liverpool
   on or about the 16th Day of June 1795, who
   previous to his Demise made his last Will
   & Testament whereby he devised several
   Legacies and appointed his Cousin Hugh
   Charran of the sd parish Execr of all the rest
   of his goods & Effects, as by the sd will dated
   the 30th Day of March 1787 may more fully
   appear. That the sd Hugh Charran having
   since departed this Life, who made Executrix
   of his wife Joney Charran. That consequent
   =ly the sd Joney Charran pretends to have an
   absolute right to the goods & effects of the sd
   John Creetch deceased, but she and the Petrs 
   have entered into an Agreement whereby the
   sd Joney Charran is to be sworn Executrix of the
   sd Last Will & Testament of John Creetch decesd
   without Dispute or Littigation.

The Petitioners therefore pray a speedy hearing hereof to establish the sd will with an Order to charge the witnesses of the sd Will, and that after the probate thereof the sd Joney Charran will be sworn Execx of the sd John Creetch deceased in the due form of Law and they as bound shall pray etc.
Ordered that the matter of the within Petn do come to be heard before me at a Court to be holden in the Parish of KK Bride on friday the 17th day of this month when all proper Parties & Persons to have legal notice Given the 7th July 1795 Wm Clucas

John Creetch, Will, 1787

The Last Will and Testament of John Creetch of .... .. being at perfect mind and memory at the making thereof he committed his sould to God and his body to Christian burial Itm He Left and Bequeathed to his Cousin Hugh Carran Children which is four children the sum of pounds each child and if one of the said children is to die before he come to age the children which is alive is to get the part of the money of the child that is Dead to be Divided between them equally. Itm He Left and Bequeathed to his cozen David Kinread of he aforesd parish of Maughold one guinea Itm He Left and Bequeathed to his two Brothers on his fathers side namely John Creetch and William Creetch two shilllngs and sixpence British to each of them Itm He Left and Bequeathed to Mary Quayle widow of sd parish two shillings and sixpence British Itm He Left and Bequeathed to Harry Crellin and his wife Easter Crellin of Whitehaven one guinea to each of them Itm He Left and Bequeathed to Jack Creaver six pence Itm He Left and Bequeqthed to each witness two shillings each Lastly he did constitute and appoint his cozen Hugh Carran of Maughold whole and sole Excr of all the rest of his goods or effects of what nature or kind soever and the afforsd Hugh Carraon of the sd parish of Maughold Excr is to put a written stone on his grave within the space of a year and a day after the Death of the Testator as witness whereto he have set his mark to his name this the 30th of March 1787 Witnesses present John Creetch my mark X David Joughin my mark X John Kerruish A schedule of the goods & effects of the testator taken down or committed to writing from the mouth of the said testator and as followeth William Hinds sail maker Whitehaven Cumberland his note to me for eighty pounds British which said note the afforsd Harry Crellin of Whitehaven ..... .. to keepwhich he is to Deliver to the Exr of any will and received seven guineas of the affordsd note and five yards & a half canvas at one shilling a yard from the affordsd William Hinds And my chest and two Jackets and two wastcots and a pair britches and two pairs of Drors and three shirts three .... and five pair os stockings and two pairs of new shoes ... three hats and a pair of blue trowrses of fear? nothing and shirts secondhand two blankets and a bed and a pillow of feathers in my Hammack and five new hakerchief is at Richard Maysons at the Sign of Admiral Tarrall Rother wall in London by Smiths Dockyard and he is to deliver .. goods to the Excr of my will and give him twelve shillings which sd Excr is to pay when he get the aforsd goods. At a consistory Court holden in the Parish of KK Bride July 17th 1795 Notwithstanding this will is proved but by one Witness yet as no objection had been offered, And tho the Excr Hugh Charran departed this life previous to the testator and did by his last will & Testament appoint his wife Jone Karran his Exrx, the next of Kin to the sd Testator, viz John Creetch, Wm Creetch Cath: Creech, & Daniel Kinread husband of Mary Creech have consented in court as may appear by the annexed agreement that he sd Joney Karran Exrx of the sd Hugh Karran decd shall be sworn Exrx of this will whereupon the sd Jone Karran is sworn duly to fulfill the last will & Testament of the testator, to pay all his just debts & legacies so far forth as the Goods will extend & the law shall bind, to which ends she has given Pledges in form of Law namely David Joughin, the witness William Crelly both of the Parish of KK Maughold. May 16th 1796 Daniel Joughin enters a claim agst the Estate of John Creetch for £3-10-0 & craves the law.

An Agreement, 179?

Whereas John Creetch, Mariner (formerly of KK Maughold) departed this Life in Liverpool on, or about the 16th day of March 1795; who previous to his Decease made his last Will & Testament whereby he devised Legacies to his Friends & Relations, and appointed his Cousin Hugh Charran of the sd parish Execr of the rest of his Goods & Effects, as by the sd Will dated the 30th day of March 1787 may at large appear - and he the sd Hugh Charran having since departed the Life who previous to his Decease made his Will where= =by he appointed his wife Joney Charran his Executrix - And whereas a Dispute is likely to commence between the sd Joney Charran (the now widow of the sd Hugh Charran and the Brothers & Sisters of the sd John Creetch deceased, namely John Creetch, Wm Creetch, Cathrine Creetch & Danl Kinread (Husband of mary Creetch) with relation to the goods Effects & Credits of the sd John Creetch deceased And for the prevention of Disputes & Controversies with regard to the same all the sd partes have agreed upon that the sd Joney Charran is to be sworn Executrix of the sd John Creetch deceased in the due form of law - And that the sd Joney Charran and the deceased John Creetch's foresd Brothers & Sisters viz: John Creetch, Wm Crettch, Cathrine Creetch & Danl Kinread in behalf of his foresd wife Mary Kinread alias Creetch are to have the foresd deceased John Creetch Goods Effects & credits equally betwixt them share & share alike immediately afther the same can be procured & recovered - and each of the sd parties is to pay his or her part of the sd leagacies, Debts & funeral Charges of the Deceased proportionable to his or her Dividend of the sd goods, effects & credits and it is further to be observed that all the sd parties are to give their aid and assistance in procuring & recovering the foresd goods, effects & credits, and pay the Expensis attending same proportionable to their respecive Divident of the the sd Goods, Effects & Credits. For the True & faithful performance of all & singulad the before going Deed of Agreement, and every Clause sentence herein before contained allparties concerned vizt the foresd John Creetch, Wm Creetch Cathrine Creetch & Danl Kinread (in the right of himsel & his foresd wife Mary Kinread alias Creetch)and the foresd Jone Charran hereby bind and oblige themselves several respectively and their several and respecitive Execrs , Adminrs , & assigns under the penalty of one hundred pounds sterling to be levied according to Law - as witness their Names & marks, This 17th Day of July 179? At KK Maughold May 22nd 1799 John Creetch Mariner lately of the Parish of KK Maughold having by his last Will & Testamt bequeathed among other things the sum of one guinea as legacy to Henry Crellin of Whitehaven, appointed his cousin Hugh Karran of KK Maughold Execr of his Good & Effects & whereas there was a dsute likely to commence between Joney Karran the widow & Extrx of Hugh Karran & the Brothers and Sisters of the sd John Creetch, namely John Creetch, Wm Creetch, Catarine Crettch & Danile Kinread husband of Mary Creetch with relation to the goods credits & effectgs of the sed John Creetch deceased, And for the prevention of Disputes & Controversies with regard to the same all the sd Parties agreed that the sd Joney Karran is to be sworn Exrx of the sd John Creetch deceased in form of law And that the sd Joney Karran and the deceased John Creetch's foresd Brothers & Sisters vizt John Creetch, Wm Creetch, Catharine Creetch & Danl Kinread in behalf of his foresd wife Mary Kinread als Creetch are to have the foresd John Creetch's Goods Effects & Credits equally betwixt them share & share alike immediately afthe the same can be procured & recovered & each of the Parties is to pay his or her part of the several Legacies bequeated by the sd John Creetch & whereas Esther Crellin the widow & Administratrix of her deceased husband Henry Crellin charged the sd several paries for recovery of the sd Legacy of one guinea bequeathed unto her sd husband Henry Crellin late decead - the said several Paries vizt Joney karran widow, John Creetch, Wm Creetch, Catharine Creetch & Daniel Kinread in behalf of his foresaid wife mary Creetch, are hereby ordered forwith to pay unto the said Esther Crellin widow and Administrarix of her late deceased husband Henry Crellin share and share alike the foresaid Legacy of a guinea bequeathed unto her sd husband by the last Will & Testament of the sd John Creetch otherwise to be committed untill they submit to law & pay all fees Thomas Cubbon
To the Sumner of KK Maughold who if disobeyed is to apply for a Constable
At a Court holden in the parish of KK Bride 17th July 1795 Joney Carran, John Creetch, Wm Creetch, Catherine Creetch and Daniel Kinread the subscribing Parties acknowlegde the within and before written Deed of Agreement to be thier proper Act and Deed Before me, Wm Clucas
I Mary Quayle do hereby acknowledge to have recd the leagacy of two shillings sixpence british bequeathed to me by the last will & testamt of John Creetch, from Joney Karran the Excrx & I do herbey acquit release & discharge the sd Joney Karran her heirs or assigns of all claims & demands for or on acct of sd legacy of two shillings & sixpence british witness my subscription this 5th day of may 1797 Mary Quayle her X mark
I David Kinread do hereby acknowledge to have recd the Legacy of one guinea bequeathed me by the last will & testament of John Creetch & I do hereby acquit release & dishcarge the Excrx of the last will & testament of John Creetch of all claims & demands for or on act of sd Legacy of one guinea. Witness my mark to my name this 12th May 1797 David Kinread his X mark
We John Creetch & Wm Creetch do herby acknowledge to have recd the legacy of two shills & sixpence british each bequeathed us by the last will & testamt of John Creetch & we do each of us respectively hereby release acquit exonerate & dischareg the Exrx of the last will & testamt of sd John creetch of all claims & demands for or on acct of sd Legacy of two shill & sixpence british each this 15th day of May 1797 John Creetch X Before me H cubbon Wm Creetch X
May 2nd 1799 I Esther Crellin widow of Herny Crellin do hereby acknowledge to have recd the sum of a guinea being a legacy bequeathed me by the last Will & testamt of John Creetch & I do hereby acquit release exonerate dischareg the Excrs of the last will & testament of sd John Creetch of all claims demand for or on acct of the sd legacy of a guinea.
