The humble petition of Judith Lord of Peeltown
Sheweth:
That your petitioner being the relict and widow of the late Henry Lord
Junior deceased left with two small children having nothing to support them
but her own endeavors being very trifling her said husband Henry Lord having
left the sum of twenty one pounds Manks as a mortgage in a certain concern
in the town of Peel the property of his father Henry Lord Senior her said
husband dying intestate it was by a decree of your Reverence appointed that
her husband's brother John Lord of KK Patrick and said Judith Lord should be
guardian of the children and the mortgage money aforesaid divided one half
to Judith Lord and the other half
between the two children by the death of the late Margery Lord widow of
Henry Lord Senior who died intestate the mortgaged concerns aforesaid was
divided between John Lord aforesaid and the oldest son of Judith
Lord.
Your petitioner humbly prays that your Reverence would be pleased to grant
an order of court that the childrens part of said mortgage being
ten pounds ten shillings would be applied toward enabling the said Judith
Lord to bringing up the said children and your petitioner shall pray.
At an Eccl Court holden in the court house in the parish of Kirk Patrick
on the 4th day of January 1799.
Upon hearing the before going petition in the presence of the petitioner
and of John Lord the guardian of the children in the said petition
mentioned and upon consideration had thereof as also of what was otherwise
pleaded argued alleged and admitted by and on behalf of the said parties
respectively I am of opinion that the sum of ten pounds and ten shillings
the property of the said children ought to be allowed to the petitioner
towards their maintenance clothing and education of the said children and it
is thereupon hereby ordered adjudged and decreed that the said sum of ten
pounds and ten shillings be allowed to her for the
aforesaid purposes accordingly.

To be annexed to the Letters of Administration of the estate of the said
Henry Lord.
Henry Lord of the town of Douglas late Chief Mate of the Dispatch Guineaman
having departed this life (as by intelligence received) at the town of
Kingston in the island of Jamaica in the West Indies on or about
the month of January last past intestate and the court having received
intelligence thereof hath decreed his two children namely Henry and
James Lord joint administrators of all and singular his goods rights
credits chattels and effects movable and immoveable whatever and the
said administrators being under age Judy Lord their mother is thereupon
sworn their guardian and supervisor and in trust of them well and truly
to administer the estate of the intestate to return a full true and
perfect inventory thereof to the Episcopal Registry to pay all his just
debts so far forth as his goods and effects will extend and the law bind
her and to these ends she hath given pledges in form of law namely Thomas
Cowell of Ballamoar Foxdale in the parish of Kirk Patrick and Thomas Cowin
of Peeltown.
John Lord uncle of the said administrators by their fatheršs side is
likewise sworn their guardian and supervisor.

The humble petition of John Lord of the parish of Kirk Patrick sheweth that
your petitioners brother Henry Lord departed this life some time
ago intestate leaving behind him two children which causeth your
petitioner to apply to your Reverence for relief.
In tender consideration where of your petitioner humbly pray that your
Reverence will be pleased to grant an order that administration may be
granted to your petitioner or to any other person as to your Reverence shall
seem meet the granting of which will cause your petitioner to pray.
