            To the Revd Wm Christain one of the
            Vicars General of this Isle
                The humble petition of Thomas Maddrell
                of Rushen & William Kermod of Marown
Sheweth
   That Margaret Maddrell (wife of James
   Maddrell who is on board his Majesty's ship the
   Captain) died on the 6th of this present month
   leaving four small children underage without
   the precaution of a will or of any one to take
   care of them, & whereas there are besides the
   children some perishable goods & effects the
   property of the said Margaret Maddrell deceased
   which require immediate care & attention
      Your petitioners therefore humbly pray
      your Reverence will be graciously pleas=
      =ed to grant an Order to summon the
      next of kind or relations of the sd Margt
      Maddrell & James her husband to appear
      on the first hearing day at St John's before your
      Reverence to swear the next of kindred
      to these children Guardians & to have
      their goods alread appraised by the Sum
      ner, sold witout any diminution or loss
      they may sustain in their value &
      your petitioners as in duty bound for
      your recerence's felicity shall pray etc.

Ordered that the beforegoing petition
to come on to be heard at an Ecclal Court to be
holden in the Court-house in this Parish on Friday
next whereof all proper parities and persons to
have notice.
   Given at KK Patrick 9th Decr 1800

By virtue of the Revd Vicar General
Christian's order to a petition, I have
lawfully charged Wm Maddrell
Margt Maddrell & Thos Harrison
all of Rushen before his reverence to appear
on Friday next by 10 o'clock in
the forenoon at the court house
in KK Patrick to answer the suit of
Thos Maddrell & Wm Kermode.
This I aver this the 11th of Dec 1800

By veartue of the Revd Vicar Genl Christian authority I have
charged Thomas Callow of Marown to appear before your
Revc at the court house in KK Patrick on Friday next
by ten of the clock in the forenoon to answer the suit of
Thomas Maddrell and William Kermod this I avear the 10
of Decr 1800

Rushen        At an Ecclal Court holden in
              the parish of KK Patrick on the
              12th day of December 1800
Margaret Maddrell of Rushen having
departed this life on or about the 6th day of this
instant month Intestate and the court having recieved intelligence
thereof hath decreed her four children namely
William, James, Thomas & Mary Maddrell co
administrators of all and singular her goods rights
credits chattels and effects movable & immovable
whatever, all of whom being under age and their
father being off the Island in his Majesty's Sea
Service, William Maddrell their uncle on the father's
side and Thos Callow their uncle on the mother's side
are thereupon sworn their guardians & supervisors
and in trust for them well & truly to administer the
estate of the said intestate, to exhibit into the
Episcopal Registry a full true and perfect inventory
thereof, to pay all her just debts so far forth as
her goods & effects will extend and the law bind
them and to render a true account of their said
administration when thereunto lawfully required
and to these end they have given pledges in form
of law namely John Callow & Thos Maddrell uncles
      who with Patrick Callow & Wm Kermode
to the said minors ^^ are also sworn their guardians
& supervisors.
