In the name of God Amen.
I Ewan Howland of the parish of KK Andreas being advanced in years and weak
in body but of sound mind memory and understanding, taking into
consideration the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and
publish this my last will and testament in manner  and form following:
First I commend my soul to God and my body to Christian  burial.
I leave and bequeath to my eldest son and heir at law William  Howland
his choice horse or mare out of our horses and all my part of the husbandry
gears as legacy.
I do also leave and bequeath unto my said son William Howland all that
parcel or parcels of intact land in said parish called the Lough which I
purchase from Patrick Howland and bearing the yearly chief rent of five
shillings and two pence or thereabouts.  And I do leave upon my said son
William Howland to pay to my three daughters namely Margaret,  Joney
and Isabel Howland the sum of sixty pounds each on account of said purchased
land.  But in case he the said William Howland refuseth to pay
to my said three daughters the sum of sixty pounds each then and in that
case I do leave all the said purchased land called the Lough bearing five
shillings and two pence chief rent as aforesaid to my said three daughter
namely Margaret, Joney, and Isabel Howland as legacy equally between them
share and share alike.
I do leave six pence to any person that will pretend to break this my will
and two shillings six pence each to the witnesses of the same.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Margaret
Howland whole and sole executrix and residuary legatee of all the rest of my
worldly goods chattels and effects of every denomination whatsoever to be by
her given to whomsoever of our children shall  ----------  it
best  in taking care of her in her old age.  Hereby requesting of her my
loving wife and executrix to consent to this my will in giving up her
parts of the landed property herein bequeathed by me to those to whom I have
left the same.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this
23d day of August 1800.  Ewan Howland
Signed published and declared by the before named Ewan Howland to be
his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto
subscribed our names in the presence of the testator and each other William

In the before named Margaret Howland wife of the said Ewan Howland do hereby
approve and consent to abide by the foregoing will hereby giving
up all my right to the purchased and intack lands bequeathed by my
loving husband Ewan Howland to be possessed by our said children as before
by him mentioned after my decease.

Sept 15th 1800 The before said Ewan Howland having sent for me
Charles Cowle one of the witnesses to the before going will told me that
the sum of twenty shillings which he had bequeathed unto Patrick
Howland his son was not to be given him because he had not come to see him
in his sickness and that he had been in the neighborhood but left the said
sum of twenty shillings to his son John Howland as legacy.

3 Oct 1801 - William Howland acknowledges to have received from his mother
Margt Howland the executrix of the within will of Ewan Howland deceased the
choice horse and husbandry gears bequeathed to him in the said will and
hereby exonerates acquits discharges the said executrix
her executors admors and assigns of the same and every part thereof.  As
witness his name this date.  William Howland.
