Know all men by these presents
that I John Cleator carpenter now
resident with my nephew John Corlet
of Birrag in the parish of Jurby for
and in consideration of the love good
will and natural affection which I
have and do bear toward him my
dutiful and welbeloved nephew the
said John Corlett upon whose aid help
succour & assistance I do now chielfly
depend in my old age and declining
years as also for and in consideration
of other obligations herein after
mentioned have given granted settled
estated established and confirmed and
by these presents do give grant settle
esthate and for ever absolutely establish
and confirm to and upon him my
said nephew John corlett and his assigns
all and singular my whole right title
property and interest to and in the
Quarterland of Ballachurry in the
said parish of Jurby with all the
houses buildings garden and haggard
upon the same made or erected together
with all the rest of my worldly goods
chattels credits and effects of what kind
nature or denomination soever and
the respective premises and every indi=
vidual part of the same to be possessed
and enjoyed by him my said nephew
or his assigns immediately upon the
decease of me the said John Cleator but
no sooner. He my said nephew and
his assigns as he and they shall become
to possess and enjoy the land premises
paying the yearly chief rent thereof
and doing and performing all other
dues and duties annually incumbent
upon the same for ever as aforesaid.
He the said John Corlett for and in
consideration of this Deed of Settlement
obliging himself to take all due care of
me and provide all things necessary
for my livelihood during my natural
life and have me decently buried
and further to shew signify & declare
that this Deed is my voluntary act &
deed by me made without any fraud
seducement compulsion or circumvention
I have with these presents delivered unto
him my said nephew John Corlett one
coined piece of silver called an English
shilling as seizure possession and
investiture of all & singular the premises
after my decease as aforesd and for the
true and faithful performance hereof &
due observance of all & singular the before
written Deed of Settlement and the
obligations therein mentioned both
parties do hereby bind & oblige them=
selves the either to theother and their
respective heirs Exonrs & assigns in the
penalty of five hundred pounds sterling
to be levied and paid according to law.
As witness their names hereunto signed
and subscribed this 4th of November 1791
