The humble petition of
Catherine Radcliffe of
the parish of Lezayre
Sheweth
That your pet’rs husband
unfortunately perished at
sea on Sunday 8th of Oct
last in the river, Mersey
on his passage to see
his son who then was
on board a vessel
lying at anchor in
said river bound for
Africa and whereas
he her husband died
intestate and left
Pet’rs with four
children two of which
are underage.
She is hereby constrained
under these circumstances
to apply to your Rev’d
for relief.
Most humbly imploring
your Rev’d Court to take
this case into your
judicious consideration
be please to grant to
Pet’r to administer at
your first Consistory
court
And Pet’r shall pray
Ordered that the matter of this petitione come
on to be heard at a Consistory Court holden
at KK Michael on thursday the 29th whereof all
proper parties and persons have notice.

in the parish of KK Michael
on the 28th day of Nov 1800.
Henry Radcliffe of the parish of Lezayre
having perished by water in the river Mersey
near the town of Liverpool in the county
of Lancaster England on or about the 19th
Day of the month of Oct last past intestate,
and this court having received intelligence
thereof hath decreed his four children
namely Charles, Joseph, John and Margaret
Radcliffe joint administrators of all and
singular his goods, rights, credits, chattels
and effects movable and immovable whatever
and the said Charles being absent from
court and Joseph and John aforesaid being
under age the court hath by the consent and
at the request of the said Margaret who has
attained lawful age committed the administration
of all and singular the estate and effects
of the said intestate to Catherine Radcliffe
the mother of the said administrators and
she is thereupon sworn in trust for them
well and truly to administer the same, to
exhibit unto the Episcopal Registry a full,
true and perfect inventory thereof to pay
all the just debts of the said intestate
so far forth as his goods and effects will
extend and the law bind her and to render
a just account of her said administration
when thereunto lawfully required and to
these ends She hath given pledges in form
of law namely John Moore of he parish of
Bride and William Martin of Lezayre.
The said Catherine and Margaret Radcliffe
are also sworn guardians and supervisors
of the said children who are under age.
