To The Rev. John Corlet one of the Vicars General of this Island.
The humble petition of Charles Radcliffe of Croganne in the parish of KK Andreas.
Sheweth that your petitioner's wife Jane Radcliffe departed this life on or about the 10th
of March last past without a will or any disposal of her goods and effects that there are
six children left with your petitioner four of whom are of age and two under the age of
fourteen years. That your petitioner and wife were at the time of her death indebted to
several persons to a very answerable amount that your petitioner's children those who are
of age namely Charles, William, John and Jane Radcliffe are sensible that her goods and
effects of their aforesaid Father and Mother is not sufficient to pay the debts aforesaid yet
notwithstanding your petitioner Charles Radcliffe rather than the _____ of goods and
effects these are should be exposed to be appraised. He is ________ with the consent of
his children those who are of age. Though your Petitioner is sensible that it would be his
loss to allow the sum of _____ pounds to each of his aforesaid children to be paid unto
them when they all arrive if the age of fourteen years and to clothe and maintain them
during said time.
Your petitioner therefore humbly prays your Reverence will take his case to your
consideration and order a speedy day of hearing and that you will allow your Petitioner to
be sworn administrator of his aforesaid wife Jane Radcliffe and your petitioner in duty
shall pray.
Ordered that the matter of this petition do come to be heard at a Court to be holden at KK
Bride 16th of April instant wherefore all proper parties are to have due.

Jane Radcliffe als Sprainger of this parish of KK Andreas having departed this life
on or about the 10th day of March last past intestate and this court having intelligence
thereof hath decreed her children namely Charles, William, John, Jane, Caesar, and Ann
Radcliffe co-administrators of all her goods chattels and effects movable and immovable
whatever, and the said Charles, William, John and Jane being at age have in open court
surrendered their right in the administration of the said goods and effects to Charles
Radcliffe their father. He is thereupon with the said children at age sworn guardians and
supervisors of Caesar and Ann aforesaid who are minors and the said Charles Radcliffe
the father is also sworn as well and truly to administer the estate of his intestate to exhibit
into the Episcopal Registry a true and faithful inventory of her goods and effects and to
pay all her just debts so far forth as her goods and effects will extend and the law bind
him. To which ends he hath given pledges in form of Law namely Charles Radcliffe
his son and Mr. William Christian Senior of Ballayonaige in the pariah of Bride.
