Testament Anno Dom 1805
                 27th Day of April 1801

This is affirmed to be the last will and testament 
of MARY CORTEEN als COTTIER of the town of Ramsey 
by and with the consent of her loving husband DAVID 
CORTEEN revoking all their former wills hereunto 
made by them or either of them.
1st.  She commits her soul to God who gave it this 
body to a Christian burial.
Item - the both jointly and severally leave and 
bequeath to their loving son JAMES CORTEEN their 
present Dwelling House and Yard thereunto belonging, 
excepting the loft over the kitchen and the one half 
of the aforementioned back yard which the leave and 
bequeath the their loving son JOHN CORTEEN the said 
bequests to be possessed and enjoyed by them and 
either of them after the decease of the survivor of 
the Testators.
Item - she leave and bequest to their said son JOHN 
a fir chest that is on the little loft over the kitchen 
and a barrel and as much Fine Flax linnen as will 
make him a shirt, then they leave and bequeath to 
their said son JAMES the Best Oak chest and the best 
feather bed with Bed Head Cloathing and Curtains 
after the decease of the survivor of them and their 
said son JAMES is to have the other feather bed for 
his own use until he shall possess the other feather 
beds.  He their said son JAMES in lieu of the former 
bequests is to advance to the survivor of these 
Testators the sum of forty shillings when required 
by the survivor. 
Item - she leaves and bequeaths to Mrs Clark the wife 
of Mr. James Clark of Oast her cotton bedgown and a 
large cotton handkerchief after the said MARY CORTEENS 
decease.  It is hereby to be understood that their 
said son JAMES is to possess and own upon the decease 
of either of the Testators the half of the Dwelling 
House before bequested except what is already excepted 
for his brother JOHN. The Nominate constitutes, ordains 
and appoints the survivor of the Testators whole and 
sole Exec of all the rest of their worldly goods, 
chattels, credits and effects of what kind or denomination 
whatsoever.
Lastly - the bequeath six pence all cravers and one 
shilling each to the witnesses hereof.  
They have hereunto set their marks, their names this 
day and date first so written.

At a Chapters court holden at Lezayre
June 26th 1805
MARY CORTEEN als. COTTIER one of the Testators having departed 
this life & DAVID CORTEEN the Survivor having relinquished the 
right of the Executorship unto his son JAMES CORTEEN is there 
upon sworn Executor in form of Law and hath given Pledges for 
the payment of Debts& Legacies namely, James Clark and John 
Callow the Witnesses.

DAVID CORTEEN the Survivory Testator having departed this life,
the said JAMES CORTEEN is sworn Testator in form of Law & hath 
given Pledges for the payment of Debts namely John Callow & 
JOHN CORTEEN both of Ramsey.
