26        Malew
I William Taggart of the parish of Malew do make my last will and testament
as follows.
First I commit my soul to the mercy of God and my body to decent Christian
burial.
I leave and bequeath to my son John Taggart the sum of one hundred pounds
British and my share of the sloop in the possession of Niely
Mariner.
Item I leave and bequeath to my daughter Mary Taggart the sum of one hundred
and ten pounds British being a mortgage on the estate of John Clague
Ballown.
Item I leave and bequeath to my two daughters Cath Tear and Mary Taggart a
dwelling house in Church Street Castletown to be possessed equally between
them.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my grand daughter Mary Tear the sum of one
hundred pounds British payable at the death of her mother.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my grandson Wm Tear the money secured
by mortgage on the estate of John Kewn Silverburn payable at the
decease of his mother.
Item:  I leave and bequeath to my grand children viz the children of my
son John Taggart the sum of five pounds but each payable when they
come to age.
Item:  I leave to the poor of Malew excluding the town the sum of five
pounds British.
Item:  I leave to Elinor Corlett of Castletown widow the sum of thirty
shillings British yearly during her natural life.
Item:  I declare it to be my will and pleasure that my son John Taggart is
not to be accountable to my executrix hereinafter mentioned for any sum of
money he has received from me.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my daughter Cath Tear als Taggart
sole executrix and residuary legatee of all the rest of my goods cash
credits and effects excluding every other person who may claim a right to
any part of my property with six pence legacy each.  In
testimony hereof I have caused my name and mark to be subscribed this 5th
day of September 1808.  William Taggart his x mark

At a Chapter Court holden in Castle  Rushen 17th June 1809.  The executrix
is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of
debts and legacies namely the Rev David Harrison and the Rev John Christian.
