                           Lonan  

   The last Will and Testmt of John Scarffe of the 
Parish of KK Lonan who Departed this Life on or about 
the 9th of June 1809 being of sound Disposing 
mind and Memory at the making therof .  First he 
committed his soul to God and Body to Christian 
Burial  as for his worldly Goods and Eeffects he left 
and Bequeathed them in manner following ---
   First he left and Bequeathed to his Eldest Son Jam’s 
Scarffe Two Pounds --
   He left and Bequeathed to his son William 
Scarffe the sum of Thirty Pounds and his part or one 
half of the Sheep --
   He left and Bequeathed to his son Thomas Twenty 
Pounds --
   He left and Bequeathed to his Daughter Mary 
Five Pounds --
   He left and Bequeathed to his Daughter Margt 
Three Pounds.
   He left and Bequeathed to his Daughter Ann the 
Sum of Ten Pounds.
   He left and Bequeathed to his Grand Son George 
Scarffe Ten Pounds.
   He left and Bequeathed to his Grand Son John 
Scarffe Son the fores’d Son Jam’s Two Pounds.
   He left and Bequeathed to the Poor of the Parish
   Two Pounds.

   And further left Six [pence] Legacy to any 
Person or Persons that may claim a just Right to 
his Effects hereafter.
      And lastly he Nominated and 
appointed his loving wife Margaret Scarffe whole 
and sole Executrix of all the rest of his Goods 
and chattels movable and Immovable of what Kind 
   or Nature

                       At a Chapter Court holden
                       at Douglas the 24th Oct’r 
                       1809. ---

The Exor’x is sworn in Court in form of 
Law & hath given pledges for the 
payment of Debts & Legacies namely 
James [Carrorin ?]  and Thomas Cowin 
one of the Witnesses of the Will. ---
