In the name of God Amen.
I William Cannell of the Village in the Parish of Kirk
Michael being of sound and disposing mind memory and
understanding and considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life do make my last Will and Testament in manner following.
I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian
burial.
I leave devise and bequeath unto my two daughters
Ann & Margaret Cannell my one half or moiety of the
dwelling house wherein I now live and the out house
thereunto belonging to be possessed by them equally at
the decease of my wife Ann Cannell who is to have the
use, issues & profits thereof during her natural life but
in case my said wife should intermarry, then it is my
will that my moiety of the said houses shall be possessed
by my said daughters upon such intermarriage if the
same should happen.
I also leave and bequeath unto my said two daughters
Ann Cannell and Margaret Cannell the sum of Forty
pounds British equally between them to be paid unto
them upon their attaining the age of twenty five years.
But in case either of my said daughters should happen
to die before ^she attain the said age & without lawful
issue, in that case my will is that the share of the said
houses and money of the one who might die is to become
the property of the survivor of the said Ann & Margt. Cannell.
I also leave and bequeath unto my said two daughters
Ann and Margt. a feather bed and bedding.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Cannell
a legacy of 10 shillings Brit.
And lastly, I give and bequeath unto my wife Ann
Cannell all the rest, residue & remainder of my goods,
rights, credits, chattels & effects moveable and immoveable
whatever and I do nominate, constitute & appoint
my Wife sole Executrix of this my Will and do leave
one shilling each to the witnesses hereof – as witness
my name & mark this 15th day of July, 1809,

I Ann Cannell wife of the said Wm. Cannell do
hereby consent that my moiety of the dwelling house &
out house bequeathed & devised unto my two daughters
Ann and Margt. Cannell in the above will shall fall &
descend unto them equally between them immediately at
my decease - As witness my name & mark this
15th day of July, 1809.

Michael the 21st March 1811.
The Exor~x is sworn in court in form of Law and also
Guardian and Supervisor of the said Margaret who is
underage and has given pledges for the payment
of Debts & Legacies namely the Witnesses of the
will she consents that her moiety of the
dwelling house & outhouse shall descend to her
said daughters Jane & Ann Cannell as set forth
in the will.

said estate for the sum of……5.0 British.
Jan. 24th James Crellin enters a claim against
said estate for the sum of……£1.10.0 British.
Jan. 3rd 1812 William Kneale enters a claim against
said estate for the sum of……13.0 British.
Feb. 17th Philip Caine enters a claim against
said estate for the sum of…… £20.0.0 British.
Do Robt. Kelly enters a claim against Do
for the sum of……£3.0.0 British.
Feb. 20th Simon Reid enters a claim
against Do for the sum of……12.0 British.
March 3rd 1812 Philip Quiggen against Do for the sum of…. 9.10½ British.
To the Reverend Thomas Cubbon, Clerk, one
of the Vicars General of this Isle, &c. &c.
The humble petition of Ann Cannell
of the Parish of Kirk Michael.
Sheweth, That your Petitioner’s late husband, namely,
William Cannell of the said parish departed
this life sometime in the Month of January
last past, having previously, duly made, published
and declared his Last Will and Testament in writing,
and thereof, nominated & appointed your Petitioner
whole & sole Executrix as by the same may appear.
That your Petitioner is anxious to have the
said will established so soon as conveniently may
be.
Wherefore your petitioner humbly prays
for a speedy hearing of the Petition, and that
the said will may be accepted and the
burden of execution thereof committed
unto your Petitioner in the usual form.
And your Petitioner will pray &c.
