Lezayre
At a Chapter Court holden at Ramsey 29th May 1811 _
John Garrett of the Parish of Lezayre having departed
this Life on or about the 25th day of April last past Intestate
And the Court having received Intelligence thereof
hath decreed his three Children namely John
Charles and Ann Garrett Co–Administrators of all
his
and Singular ^Goods Rights Credits Chattels &
Effects moveable and immovable whatsoever, And
they being under age, Ewan Moore their Grand =
their
=father is sworn ^Guardian and in trust for
them well & truly to Administer the Estate of
the Intestate to exhibit a full true & perfect
Inventory thereof unto the Episcopal Registry
to pay all his just debts so far forth as the
Goods will extend and the Law bind him and
to be accountable for his Administration
when thereunto lawfully required and to
these ends he hath given Pledges in form
of Law namely Patrick Looney of KK Maughold
and John Garrett of Andreas

The Humble Petition of Ewan Moore
of the parish of Lezayre Administrator
in Trust for the Estate of John Garrett
of said parish Deceased
Sheweth
That there are Several Orders or Judgments
Granted by your Reverence now enforcing against
your Petr for said Estate which your petr cannot
comply with in full and do Justice to his trust
That your petr had all the Goods and Effects the
property of the sd John Garrett appraised and Sold at
public Auction to the highest Bidder Which appraise
ment and account Sales are upon the Episcopal
Register
That your petr knows of no debts due to the
said Estate but one from Mr Thomas Brew of the
parish of Lezayre for the Sum of £8~0~0 British or
thereabouts for which he was Summoned before your
Reverence but he stood a Contempt and your petr
have not had time yet to bring him with or by a
Constable –
That your petr humbly Submits to your
Reverence that he should not be Bound to pay
any farther than in proportion as far forth as
the goods & Effects will extend and the Estate
can by no means pay Twenty Shillings out of the
Pound Which constrain your petr to apply to
your Reverence for Relief
Wherefore your petr humbly prays
that your Revence would be pleased
to take his Cause to your most
Judicious consideration and Grant a
hearing hereof and after hearing the
same your Reverence may be pleased
to allow your petr a reasonable time
to recover the sd Debt of the sd Thomas
Brew if the same be due. And also
Order the Episcopal Register to
proportion the Debts to the Credits
of said Estate that a due and Just
Distribution may be made of the same
and in the mean time that all
proceedings against your petr for
the same may be stayed with respect
to the same untill a final hearing
hereof with such other Relief as to
your Reverence may seem meet and
petr will pray & & ~~

to come on to be heard at
an Ecclal Court to be holden
at Kirk Maughold on Friday the 17th instant whereof all Parties
are to come on notice

The beforegoing Petition having
come on to be heard in the Presence
of the Petitioner and some of the
Principal Creditors and upon
examination had therof as also
of what was otherwise pleaded
argued, admitted & alleged by and
on behalf of the Parties respective
ly It is hereby ordered adjudged and
Decreed, this that the Episcopal Register
do ascertain the amount of the
claims entered and proved against
the same and in case that the
Assets of the said[?] Decedent are
not sufficient for the full
payment & satisfaction of the
said claims, that he do then
deduct from the said Estate the
Funeral
Expences of the said Decedent
and other Debts having a priority
of Payment therefrom and
afterward ascertain ? any
? like the respective
Dividends of the c? credittors
of the said Estate are that the
Petitioners do pay with the said
Creditors the said respective Divid
ends ascertained in Manner aforesd
