In the name of God Amen.
The last will and testament of Deborah Gelling of the town of Douglas
(widow) being weak in body but of a sound and disposing mind and
memory.
Item:  I commit my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial.
2nd I leave and bequeath to my son Thomas a sofa as a legacy.
3rd I leave and bequeath to Elizabeth Gelling (wife of my son Thomas) a
bedstead with bed and bedding
4th I leave and bequeath to my daughter Catharine all my wearing
apparel as a legacy.
5th I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Francis Gelling a pair of
silver sugar tongs as a legacy.
6th I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Margaret Gelling a gold
ring as a legacy.
7th and lastly I leave and appoint my daughters Margaret, Catherine, Deborah
and Isabella joint executrixes of all the remainder of my
worldly goods and effects of any name or description whatsoever and
this I confirm to be my last will and testament, witness my name this tenth
day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and twelve
1812.

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas 2 Jun 1812 Margaret, Deborah, and
Isabella three of the above named executrices being out of the Island  -
Catharine is sworn executrix in court as also to be true and just to her
co-executrices in the division of the effects and hath given pledges for
the  payment of debts and legacies namely Edward Gelling of Castletown and
the Revd John Christian Vicar of Arbory.
