This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Thomas Cain stone
mason of the town of Douglas, deceased, who was weak in body but of sound
and disposing mind, memory, and understanding at the making hereof. He
commended his soul to the mercy of Almighty God and his body to Christian
burial. As to his disposable Effects he left and Bequeathed the same in
manner following.
That is to say, respecting his wife Ann Cain alias Killip being in a State
of pregnancy at the making hereof he left and bequeathed "unto that which
is unseen" (meaning the child of which his wife was pregnant) five
shillings, and constituted and appointed his Dear loving and beloved wife
Ann Cain aforesaid to be whole and sole executrix of all the rest of his
effects whether Goods or money and of this his last will and testament.
