To the Rev Thomas Cubbin
The humble petition of Isabel Cowle Relict & widow of James Cowle of the
parish of Lezayre deceased.
Sheweth
That your petitioners said husband departed this life sometime in the month
of November now last past intestate.
That the goods and effects of the deceadant are in a po(verished) state.
And require the most immediate care to which care and management your
petitioner is well informed. She nor no other person can proceed until an
administration is granted by the Spiritual Courts.
Your petitioner therefore humbly prays for a speedy hearing of this cause.
That your Reverence would be pleased to order & decree an Administration of
the Estate of the Deceadent whereby your petitioner (or whomsoever your
Reverence would be pleased to appoint) may be sworn administrator of the
said estate & proceed to the care & management thereof.
- Ordered that this Petitioner do come and to be heard at an Ecclesiastical
Court to be ____ on Friday 18th inst. _______
Given this day 12th March 1814
By virtue of the Revd. Thomas Cubbon his authority:
Charged James Cowill, Margaret Cowill. I left charges for Wm. Cowill with
his wife. I left charges for Charles Cowill with James Cowill. The next of
kin of James Cowill. __Dept to appear before his Revd. at the Court House
in ___ Maughold on Friday next by ten of the clock in the fournoon to answer
the suit of Isabella Cowill of Lezayre this the 16th March 1814.

At an Ecclesiastical Court holden at Kirk __ Maughold 18 March 1814, James
Cowle of Lezayre having departed this life sometime in the month of November
last past Intestate.
The Court having received intelligence thereof hath decreed his four
children namely William, Charles, James & Margaret Cowle co-admrs. of all
and singular his goods rights credits chattels & effects moveable &
immoveable whatever. William & Margaret aforesaid being absent from court,
Charles & James have given up their right of administration with their
mother Isabel Cowle who is thereupon sworn in as __ well & truly to admis.
the estate of the intestate to e__ full true and __ inventory thereof in the
Ecc. Registry. To pay all his just debts so far forth as the goods will ___
____ ___ pledges from Phillip Cain & John Fayle both of Lezayre.
