The humble petition of John Hadden of the parish of Kirk Michael.
Sheweth:
That Elizabeth Hadden alias Kneen (your petitioner's mother) departed
this life some time ago, but, previous to her deceased she made her last
will and testament wherein she appointed your petitioner her whole and sole
executor but your petitioner not being of age at the time of his said
mother's decease could not be appointed her executor and in consequence
whereof the Rev Thomas Harrison and Captain Thomas Cannell of the parish of
KK Michael deceased were sworn executors in trust of the
estate of the said Elizabeth Hadden .
that the said Rev'd Thomas Harrison and Capt Thomas Cannell have also
departed this life and have left the affairs of your petitioner's said
mother in a very deranged state.
Wherefore your petitioner humbly prays a hearing of the petition and
intended consideration had thereof your Reverences may be pleased to allow
your petitioner know that he is of age to be sworn executor of his mother
the said Elizaeth Hadden's last will and testament according to
the original instant thereof
And your petitioner will every pray.
At a Chapter Court holden at Mullin y chles 18May 1819
Ordered to be heard at the Chapter Court to be holden at Kirk Michael on the
10th June next and hereof all proper parties  and persons are to have due
notice.

At a Chapter Court holden in Kirk Michael 10 June 1819.
The Reverend Thomas Harrison and Capt Thomas Cannell the executors in trust
of the estate of Elizabeth Hadden in the foregoing petition named having
both departed this life and the executor John. H. Hadden the petitioner
having become of age, he the said John H. Hadden is therefore admitted to be
sworn executor of the said last will and testament  of his deceased mother
------- to the original design and tenor thereof and
hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely John
Kelly and William Cannell both of Kirk Michael.           Thos Cubbon

In the name of God Amen, I Elizabeth Hadden alias Kneen (widow) of the
parish of KK Michael being of sound and disposing mind memory and
understanding do make my last will and testament in manner following. First
I commit my soul to God and body to Christian burial.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Mary that
small house situated in the Village and adjoining the parish School House
by her ----- to be possessed and enjoyed at the first 12th of May or 12th of
November next after my decease on condition that if she at any time
hereinafter wishes to dispose of the said house she is to give her
brother John Hadden the first offer of the said house provided he will
give as much as any other person will for the said house.  I also give and
bequeath to my said daughter Mary the sum of five pounds but to be raised
and levied out of my property and also a bed and bedding with bedstead and
hangings and a blue chest now in the room over the kitchen. Thirdly I give
and bequeath to my daughters Mary and Elizabeth Hadden
all my wearing apparel to  be equally divided among them and I also give
and bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth the sum of five pounds but to be
raised and levied out  of my property and also a bed and bedding with bed
stead and hangings now in the closet.
Fourthly I give and bequeath to my well beloved sons William Robert and
James Hadden the sum of one pound and one shilling but to each to be raised
and levied out of my said property.  I also give and bequeath to my said son
Robert a black trunk now in the room over the kitchen.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son John Hadden whole and sole
executor of this my last will and testament and residuary legatee
of all the rest residue and remainder of all my property goods rights
credits chattels, and effects moveable and unmovable whatsoever and
also half of the rent of the before named house bequeath to my said daughter
Mary to be by him enjoyed until the term of my son Robertıs apprenticeship
is served or fulfilled to his master John Caine (saddler)
and no longer their to be enjoyed by  my said daughter Mary as before
mentioned I do likewise appoint my said executor John Hadden to give
and provide sufficient board lodging and apparel for my three children
Mary Elizabeth and  James Hadden until each of them is fourteen years of age
and also to provide sufficient board and lodging for my said son
Robert until the term of his apprenticeship is served.  I do likewise
appoint that my said executor do get my said son James bound to a
respectable tradesman to learn his trade and mastery as an apprentice.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and mark in presence of the
witnesses this the 16th day of March 1816.

Signed published and declared by the testatrix Elizabeth Hadden as and
for her last will and testament in presence of us the witnesses.

At an Ecclesiastical Court holden in Kirk Michael 12th June 1816
The executor in open court having relinquished the burden of the beforegoing
will and recommended nominate and appointed two representatives in trust of
the education of the same namely the Reverend Thomas Harrison, Episcopal
Registry and Captain Thomas
Cannell of Kirk Michael they are therefore sworn executors in trust in
form of law and have given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies
namely John Caine and John Caine both of Kirk Michael
