Note: There are two further pages, badly deteriorated and therefore difficult to transcribe, dated 18 January 1817 and signed by Mary Bridson. She declares that she has absolute right under the will of her late father (Thomas Ridgway) to dispose of a sum of £4000.00 and, in the event of her death before her husband, leaves that sum to him or to his executors etc. (MAB)

This is the last will and testament of
Paul Bridson of Douglas, Merchant, and Mary Bridson
alias Ridgway, his wife, made and published by us this
Twenty Eighth day of February, in the year of our Lord
one thousand, eight hundred and fourteen, whereby we
revoke and make void all forms of wills, by us at any time
heretofore made. _____
                           And we each of us, Give and 
devise and bequeath unto the Survivor of us
His and Her their Executors and Administrators All
and Singular the Real and Personal Estate
whatsoever at Law, or in Equity now belonging
or which shall at any time belong to us or either of
us, situate in the Isle of Man or
Elswhere, Subject to a Legacy of one shilling
British to each of our children as we now have, and may 
hereafter have. ____
                         And such survivor as hereby
constituted and appointed Sole Executors or Executrice 
and Guardian of our Children, as witness our hands, th[is]
day, month, and year aforesaid.

Whereas we have already made our joint will
as one the other side written by which we have
devised and bequeathed all our real and 
personal Estate to the Survivor his or her heirs
executors and Administrators. But in order to
guard against the possibility of such Survivor
dying Intestate and the  inconvenience that
might arise from that circumstance we desire
this Addition to our Wills  may be taken and
considered as a Codicil thereto whereby we
declare it as our Will and Mind and we
the said Paul Bridson and Mary Bridson
alias Ridgway accordingly devise and
direct all our real estate  whatsoever and 
wherever to and equally amongst our dear
children their Executors and Administrators
and we do also appoint them joint Executors
of our said will and this codicil
in case the Survivor of us shall happen to
die intestate but not otherwise In Testimony
whereof we have hereunto subscribed our
Names this Sixteenth  ---- Day of January

The survivor Paul Bridson is sworn
executor of the foregoing will and the codicil
thereunto annexed in Court in form
of law, and hath given pledges for the 
payment of Bills and legacies namely

and John Joseph Heywood Esquire, Advocate.
