In the name of God Amen.
Editha Martin wife of Edward Martin of the town of Douglas being weak
and feeble in body but of perfect and sound mind and memory and considering
the uncertainty of this mortal life do hereby make ordain and appoint this
my last will and testament that is to say principally and
first of all I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial and
as touching such worldly goods and effects as I am possessed of I give
demise and dispose of the same in the following way and manner.
2nd I leave and bequeath unto my son John Martin all my wearing apperal
all the books that I have in my possession and all my part or moiety of
our household furniture.
3rdly I leave and bequeath unto my son John Martin my part or moiety of all
our concerns of houses and propertys in the town of Douglas namely the house
wherein we now live and the house adjoining it on the west
and joins the rent of John Quilliam both houses joins the street called
Daumgold Street in front on the south our dwelling house joins Strand Street
on the east and  the rent of Mrs Mary Stowell on the north our dwelling
house formerly called and know by the name of  Authurs House and the other
by the name of Thomas Corkill's house together with all my part of moiety of
the back yard  and gardens to the said premises belonging or anywise
appertaining.
I leave unto any person or persons that shall or may claim any right or
tytle to my will the sum of two shillings and six pence.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my son John Martin whole and
sole executor of all the rest of my worldly goods be they of what kind or
nature soever but should my son John Martin die before he comes to age to
possess the before mentioned legacies and premises that then and in that
case I nominate and appoint Catherine Norman and Elizabeth Geneste to be my
executors and to be authorized with the same power as if my
son should live ratifying and affirming this to be my last will and
testament this 25 day of July one thousand eight hundred and twenty one.
