In the name of God Amen.
I James Bowman of the parish of KK Christ Rushen being weak in body
but of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament. First
I commend my soul into the hands of God and commit by body too Christian
burial.
Item I bequeath to my children six hundred pounds British four hundred
of which I bequeath to my son James and the remaining two hundred to
my daughter Mary.
Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Margaret Bowman sole executrix
of all the rest of my goods of whatever description and also
the benefit or interest of the sum as above bequeathed to my two
children until they the said children are of age. And this I declare to be
my last will and testament the first day of April 1823.
In the presence of Joseph Qualtrough and Richard Jones.
James Bowman a legatee named in the foregoing will appeared at the registry
and acknowledged to have been paid his legacy of four hundred pounds
bequeathed him in and by the said will and he hereby exonerates acquits and
discharges the administrators with the will annexed her executors
administrators and assigns of the same and of every part thereof.
As witness his subscription this 22nd day of September 1843.

At a Chapter Court holden in Castletown 4 Jun 1823.
James bowman of the parish of Rushen having departed this life on or about
the 6th April last, but, on or about the 6th April last, but, having first
published his last will and testament thereby he appointed his wife Margaret
Bowman sole executrix and she declining to accept the burden
of the same, and this court having received intelligence thereof hath
decreed his children James and Mary co administrators of all and
singular the goods, rights, credits, chattels, and effects moveable and
immoveable whatever of the deceased and they being of the tender age to
undertake this administration the said Margaret Bowman their mother is sworn
administratrix in trust for her said children with the said will annexed and
likewise as guardian and supervisor of them - to exhibit a
full and perfect inventory and to pay all just debts and to these ends she
hath given pledges in form of law, namely John Clucas and William Qualtrough
both of Rushen.
