In the Name of God Amen.
I Anne Caine (alias Lawson alias Moore)
Wife of James Cain of the Town of Douglas
Considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life and being of Sound and
perfect mind and Memory Do make
Ordain and Appointe this my Last
Will and Testament in the Manner
and form following
and principally and first of all I commit
my Soul to God and my body to a Decent
Christian Burial
2ndly I Leave and Bequeath unto my Son
James Lawson the sum of five pounds Brit
I leave and Bequeath unto my three
Sons namely John, Thomas and Robert
Lawson the sum of twenty pounds
British Each
I Leave and Bequeath unto my Daughter
Anne Lawson the sum of Forty pounds
Brtish my best feather Bed and bedding
and all my wearing apparall
I Leave and Bequeath unto my two
youngest Sons William and Joseph Cain
the sum of Forty pounds British Each
to be paid them by my Executor when
they Come to the age of fourteen years
but the beforegoing Legacies Bequeathed
are not to be paid untill Each of the
before mentioned Children arrive at the
age of Twenty years.
I Leave and Bequeath unto my
Husband James Cain all and singular
that of my part or Moiety of our dwelling
House wherein we live situate in
Drumgold Street in the Town of Douglas
adjoing the Rent of the Late James
Lawson Deceased on the East the Rent
of John Lewin on the South the Rent of
Thomas Curphey on the West and the
aforesaid Drumgold on the North in front
and Likewise my part or Moiety of the
House adjoining our Dwelling House
Commonly Called and Known by name of
Lawson's House bounded by the Rent of
Margaret Cubbon the East the Rent
of the Late Mr Henry Moore on the South
the Rent of James Cain on the West and
the Common Stree on the North together
with the half or my part of the Back
Yards back Houses and Out offices belonging
to the aforesaid premises.
I leave unto any person or persons
that Shall or may Claim any right to this
my Last Will the sum of five shillings.
Lastly, I Nominate Constitue and
Appoint my Beloved Husband James
Cain Whole and Sole Executor of all the
Rest of my worldly Goods moveable and
immoveable be they of what kind or nature soever
and this I affirm to be my Last Will and Testament
the 23rd day of June one thousand eight hundred

The humble pettition of James Cain
of Douglas
Sheweth
that your Petitioners wife
Ann Cain departed this life
in the month of January last
first having duly made and
executed her last will and
testament and thereof appointed
your petitioner executor
That your Petr is
anxious to have the said will
received and established in
the usual course
and morevoer prays
that you worship
may be pleased to
grant a hearing of
this petition on some
early day and that
the sd will may be
received and established
in usual form and
your petr will pray

Ordered that this petiton do come on to be
heard at an ecclesiastical Court to be holden
in Douglas on Friday the 12th of March next
whereof all proper parties and persons
are to have notice William Roper
Given this 24th of Feby 1824
At an Ecclesiastical Court holden
in Douglas the 12th of March 1824
James Cain the executor in the
foregoing will named is sworn
well and truly to fulfill and execute the
same to pay all the Testators just debts
& legacies so far forth as the goods will extend and
the law bind him and to return a full
true and perfect Inventory of the estate
of the Testatrix when therunto lawfully
required and to do and perform all
other acts and things necefsary or
Appertaining to the Office of Executor
And to these ends the said James
Caine ........... William Quayle
and Edward Curphey entered
into a bond unto the Lord Bishop
and his successors the
Sum of six hundred pounds that
said Probate hereof is granted unto
the said James Caine

I James Lawson of the Town of
Douglas do acknowledge to have received
from James Caine of the sd town of Douglas
Executor of the last will and testament of
Anne Caine als Lawson als Moore the sum
of Five pounds British the full amount of the
Legacy bequeathed to me in and by the last
said will of the said Anne Caine deceased.
And I do hereby release acquit exonerate
and discharge the said James Caine his
Heirs Excrs admors and assigns of the same
forever >As witness my subscription
this 24th day of Febry 1827

I Thomas Lawson late of the town of
Douglas in the Isle of Man but now of the
town of Liverpool in the County of Lancashire
in England do acknowledge to have received
from James Caine the Executor of the last
will and testament of Anne Caine als Lawson
als Moore late of the town of Douglas
deceased the sum of wenty pounds British
the whole amount of the legacy left and bequeathed
to me in and by the Will of the sd Anne Caine
and I do hereby relese acquit and discharge
the said James Caine his heirs Exors Admmors
and assignes of the same for ever. As witness
my subscription this 27th May 1834.

of the testratrix do acknowledge to have received
from James Caine of the parish of Braddan the
Executor of the last will and testament of Ann
Caine als Lawson deceased the sum of twenty
pounds British being the whole amount of the
legacy left and bequeathed to me in and by the
will of the said Anne Caine and I do hereby
release acquit exonerate and discharge the
said James Caine his heirs exors admors and
assignes of the same for ever. As witness
my subscription this 3rd day of Augt 1836
