          Ballaugh
The humble petition of James Taubman of Ballaugh
Sheweth that on the 27th Sep last past year petitioners wife Jane Taubman
departed this life intestate leaving issue Henry, Edward Moore, James,
Robert, John, Jane, Elizth, Catherine and Margaret all of whom
are under the age of twenty one years.
That is is necessary administration of the goods and effects of the said
deceased be granted to some proper person and that guardian should be
appointed over the said minors.
Wherefore your petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that administration of
the said estate may be granted to some proper person and that guardians be
appointed over the said minors and your petitioner shall
pray.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a Consistorial Court to
be held in KK Michael on Thursday the 25th Oct instant  whereof all proper
parties and persons are to have due notice.

At a Consistorial Court holden at KK Michael the 25th October 1827. James
Taubman in the foregoing petition mentioned having sometime ago departed
this life intestate and James Taubman having made application for
administration of the estate  of the decedent therefore
administration of the will is granted unto the said James Taubman and
John Teare Junr they having duly sworn well and truly to administer the same
to pay the funeral expences and debts so far forth as the  goods
will extend and the law bind them to return  into the Episcopal Registry
when thereto lawfully required a full inventory of the effects and an
accurate account of all their transactions touching said estate and to these
ends I John Teare Senior and John Caley both of Ballaugh have entered into a
bond unto the Lord Bishop and his successors in the sum of Two thousand
pounds British and they the said James Taubman and John Teare Junior have
made affidavit that the property will not exceed said sums.  Will Roper

This day personally appeared James Taubman and John Teare administrators of
the estate of Jane Taubman deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangelists
that to the best of their information and belief the estate of the said Jane
Taubman or the clear proceeds thereof will not exceed in value the sum of
two thousand pounds British witness their subscriptions this 25th Oct 1827

Sworn before us  William Roper.

Part whereof amounts to the sum of two hundred and ninety three pounds and
sixteen shillings British - ordered therefore that upon the
petitioner's paying or sufficiently securing the payment of, two hundred and
ninety three pounds and sixteen shillings British for the benefit of
his children by the said Jane Taubman deceased he do retain the stock
and effect in said appraisement specified.           John Nelson.

The humble petition of James Taubman of Ballaugh Sheweth That on the decease
of Jane Taubman your petitioner's wife who died intestate  some time in or
about the beginning of October last administration of her effects was
granted to John Teare Esq and your petitioner
That the said John Teare has been appointed guardian over your petition's
children under age.
That part of the personal property which belongs to the estate of the
said Taubman consists of stock in trade, household furniture, brewing
utensils and other things which have been appraised and valued by a  jury of
four sworn men at the sum of two hundred and ninety pounds British
or their abouts and it is deemed advisable for the benefit of all parties
concerned that the same should not be sold but that your petitioner
should secure to his children the value of the said effects and go on with
the brewing business as formerly.
Wherefore your petitioner prays a  hearing hereof and that upon
consideration of the matters  aforesaid your Rev'd may be pleased to
sanction the said proposal and to authorize your petitioner  to retain the
said stock and  effects at the valuation aforesaid or to grant such
redress in the premises as may be deemed precedent and beneficial to all
parties and your petitioners shall pray.
