20 Malew In the name of God Amen. I James Leyland of Castletown being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to God that give it and my body to a Christian burial and my worldly goods as followeth: First I leave and bequeath to my only son James all my right and title that I am now possessed of that is to say a certain dwelling house situate in Preaching House Lane in the town of Douglas likewise all my right and title that I am possess of in and to two certain dwelling houses adjoining each other situate in Queen Street in the town of Castletown and likewise to a certain house situated in Mill Street in the town of Castletown aforesaid and paying unto Elizabeth Leyland my sister the sum of five pounds British. Secondly should the aforesaid James Leyland my son die before he comes to age that is to the age of twenty one years then and in that case I do leave after the decease of my said son James unto my aforesaid sister Elizabeth Leyland all my right and title unto the aforesaid dwelling house situate in Preaching House Lane and also my right anf title in and unto the aforesaid dwelling house situate in Mill Street and I do likewise leave and bequeath unto my niece Margaret King the aforesaid dwelling house situate in Queen Street in Castletown aforesaid and unto my brother Thomas Leyland the other dwelling house situate in Queen Street aforesaid that is to say the house nearest to John Kelly Esquire and my son James aforesaid my sole executor of all my goods movable and immovable after paying all legacies and claimants the sum of one shilling whereunto I have set my mark this 11th day of January 1828. James Leyland the executor in the foregoing will named being under age Thomas Leyland a brother of the deceased James Leyland is sworn in court in form of law Executor in trust for the benefit of the said minor well and truly to execute the last will and testament of James Leyland the testator he is sworn also guardian and supervisor of the said minor to pay all his just debts and legacies so far as the goods will extend and the law bind him and to return a true and perfect inventory of the goods and effects of the deceadant into the Archdeacon's Registry and to these ends Thomas Cubbon and William Kennish of Castletown have entered into a bond unto the Rev John Nelson Vicar Genl in the sum of three hundred pounds British.
