Kirk Michael 1830
The last will and testament of David Cowley of Knockbane in the parish of
Kirk German published and declared on the 29th day of March 1815 being of
sound mind and memory in making the same.
FIRST. He committed his soul to God and his body to Christian burial.
He left and bequeathed to his daughter Elizabeth the sum of fifty pounds as
legacy.
He left and bequeathed to his daughter Isabella the sum of fifty pounds as
legacy.
He left and bequeathed to his son in law Wm Quayle the sum of two shillings
and six pence.
He left and bequeathed to his grandson William Quayle five shillings as
legacy.
He left and bequeathed to his granddaughter Jan Kaighen the sum of three
pounds as legacy.
LASTLY He nominated constituted ordained and appointed his son Patrick
Cowley sole executor of all the rest of his goods whether moveable or
immoveable of what kind or nature soever cutting off and debaring all
claimers with one shilling as legacy.

John Kaighin husband of Elizabeth a legatee in the within will named
appeared at the Registry this day and acknowledged to have received the sum
of fifty pounds bequeathed to his said wife in the within will and he hereby
exonerates, acquits, and discharges the executors his excutors
administrators, and assigns of the same and of every part thereof as witness
his subscription this day and date above written. John Kaighin. This before
me Joseph Brown.
Received from the hands of Pattrick Cowley executor of the late David Cowley
of Knockbane the marriage dowry or portion promised to me with my wife
Isabella in full as also the legacy left and bequeathed unto her by her
father David Cowley by his last will in full and I do hereby exonerate him
the said Pattrick Cowley of the same and do hereby desire and request that
the said legacy mentioned in the said will be cancelled on record as witness
my subscription this the 27th day of December 1833 = John Cannell
