Will
In the Name of God Amen. I Ann Quiggin of the parish of KK Michael Doth make
this my Last Will and Testament in Maner [sic] and form following. Firs [sic]
I Commit my soul to God and my body to Christian Burial ----
& I Leave and Bequeath to my son Charles Quiggin the sum of Five pounds--
& also I Bequeath to my son John Quiggin the sum of two pounds
also I Bequeath to my son Philip Quiggin the sum of two pounds
also I Bequeath to son Robart [sic] Quiggin the sum of two pounds
also I Bequeath to my Daughter- Cathrin Quiggin the sum of twenty pounds
& bed & Beden
also I Bequeath to my Daughter Jane Quiggin the sum of Twenty pounds
& bed & Beding
also I Bequeath to my Daughter Ann Wife of Wm Sayle the sum of two pounds -
also I Bequeath to my three Daughters all my wareables both woolen and Linen
or of what nature soever
also I Bequeath to Jane Charlses Daughter the sum of one pound
also I Bequeath to Ann Johns Daughter the sum of one Pound --
It is to be observed that the foregoing sums is to be British money
Lastly I Nominate and Appoint my Loveing Husband Philip Quiggin sole Excr of
all the rest of my goods chattles and Effects Moveable and Immoveable of What
kind or nature soever Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will this
the 28 Day of May 1832

The humble Petition of
Philip Quiggin of KK Michael
Sheweth
That your Petitioners wife Ann lately departed this life first having made her
will in writing and thereof appointed your Petitioner. Executor
That your Petitioner is old and paralysed and unfit to take upon himself the
burden of the execution of this Will, and your Petitioner begs to propose to
have his son John sworn Executor in Trust
Wherefore your Petitioner prays a hearing of this Petition upon some early day
and that the said Will may be proved and the said John Quiggin sworn Executor in
Trust and he will pray (?)

Ordered that this Petition do come on to be heard at a Court to be held at KK
Michael on the 8th Dec, 1836 next whereof all parties to have notice. Given this
29th Nov. 1836

At an Eccl Court held at KK Michael the 8th Dec. 1836.-
Upon hearing this Petition in presence of parties it appears that the Will of
Ann Quiggin in this Petition mentioned was duly signed and executed by her The
same is therefore received by this Court and Probate ordered to be granted
thereon.

At an Eccl Court held in KK Michael the 8th Dec., 1836
Philip Quiggin and John Quiggin the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
last Will and Testament of Ann Quiggin deceased having made oath on the holy
Evangelists that the same was du.. signed and executed by the Testatrix when
of sound mind memory and understanding and Philip Quiggin the Executor being
old and infirm arid having renounced the Executorship and under his hand writing
by a Document dated this day appointed his Son John Quiggin to act in his place
the Sd John Quiggin is thereupon sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the
Sd Will to pay all just debts funeral expenses and Legacies of the Testator's
to return a true and faithful account of his proceedings in the premises (?)
to the proper, Registry When thereunto lawfully required and to these ends hath
given pledges namely Philip Quiggin and John Quiggin the witnesses to this Will
who have executed a Bond to that effect in presence of the Court

of Michael decd (probate of which Will bears date the 8th Dec. 1836,) Appeared
personally at the Archdeacons Registry arid Acknowledged to have received and
been paid the Legacy of Five pounds bequeathed him in and by said Will-. -
Also appeared John Quiggin and Acknowledged to have received and been paid the
Legacy of two pounds bequeathed him in and by said Will,
Also appeared Catherine Quiggin and acknowledged to have been paid twenty
pounds and to have received the bed and bedding and one third part of all the
said Decd's wearables linen and woollen being a Legacy bequeathed her in and
by said Will --
Also appeared Thomas Caine husband of Jane Quiggin and acknowledged to have been
paid twenty pounds and to have received the bed and bedding and one third part
of Dect, wearables linen and Woollen being by legacy bequeathed his said wife
and by said Will --
Also appeared William Sayle husband of Ann Quiggin and acknowledged to have
been paid two pounds and to have received one third part of Dect wearables both
linen and Wollen being by legacy bequeathed his said wife in and by said Will
And they the said Charles Quiggin, John Quiggin, Catharine Quiggin, Thomas Caine
husband of Jane Quiggin and William Sayle husband of Ann Quiggin being Legatees
named in the foregoing Will of Ann Quiggin of Michael decd Hereby severally
exonerate acquit and discharge John Quiggin the Ex/or or Adm ... his heirs
ex/ors and Adm/ors of the said several Legacies and of every part thereof.
As Witness our, subscriptions this 7th day of August 1848. -

Personally appeared at the Registry John Quiggin of the parish of Michael
Joiner and Thomas Caine of the Town of Douglas Tanner. Lawful. Attornies
of Philip
Quiggin a Legatee named in the Will of Anne Quiggin of Michael decd which
Will bears date the 28th day of May 1832 - and they the said John Quiggin and
Thomas Caine produced a power of Attorney from said Philip Quiggin and Ann
his wife bearing date 18th April. 1842 - and duly attested before the High
bailiff of Ramsey Fredk Tellett (?) Esq. dated same day --- And they the said
John Quiggin and Thomas Caine hereby own and acknowledge to have received and
been paid the sum of two pounds bequeathed the said Philip Quiggin in and by
the said last Will and Testament of said Ann Quiggin decd -- And they hereby
Exonerate Acquit and discharge the Ex/ors Adm/ors and Assigns of said Ann
Quiggin of the said two pounds and of every part thereof --
As Witness their subscriptions this 26th day of January 1849.

KK Michael
And Philip Quiggin & Jn Quiggin of.... in the Parish of KK Michael ---
are held and Firmly bound to William Lord Bishop of Sodor, and Mann, and
his successors in the Sum of one hundred Pounds British, to the Payment
whereof well and truly to be made unto him the said Lord Bishop, and his
Successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs Executors and Administrators, jointly
and severally by these Presents.
Witness our. Subscriptions, this 8th Day of Dec. 1836
Whereas the ECCLESIASTICAL COURT of this Island hath this Day granted Probate
of the Will of Ann Quiggin deceased, to John Quiggin in Trust for his father,

NOW THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such, that if the said John Quiggin
shall well and truly administer the Estate and Effects of the said Ann Quiggin
deceased: and shall in all Things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this
Isle, the Orders of the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath he has this
Day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to be and remain
in full Force and Virtue.
