38 Ballaugh
The humble petition of Richard Teare and Thomas Moore administrators
of the state and effects of John Teare deceased. That Edward Moore Taubman
late of the parish of Ballaugh departed this life many years ago having
first duly made his last will and testament probate whereof was
on the 21st day of May 1832 granted by the Archdeaconal Court to James
Taubman the executor named in the said will.
That your petitioners in or about the 24th day of February 1854 filed their
Bill of Compliant in the Honorable Court of Chancery in this Isle against
the said James Taubman executor of the last will and testament
of the said Edward Moore Taubman deceased and others.
That sometime afterwards the said James Taubman departed this life having
first duly made and published his last will and testament in
writing whereof he appointed Jane Taubman his wife executrix probate
of which will was on the 3rd day of January 1862 granted to the said
Jane Taubman.
That the said Jane Taubman sometime ago departed this life intestate. That
letters of Administration of the estate of the said Jane Taubman were
granted. That upon the decease of the said Jane Taubman intestate as
aforesaid the said suit in the said Court of Chancery abated.
That at the present time there is no legal representative to the estate and
effects of the said Edward Moore Taubman.
That your petitioners are therefore desirous of setting up a representative
to the estate of the said Edward Moore Taubman deceased for the purpose of
hearing the said suit in Chancery.
Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray a hearing hereof and that your
Worship may be pleased to appoint John Bridson of the town of Ramsey,
Sumner or some other fit and proper person administrator de bonis non with
the will annexed of the estate and effects of the said Edward Moore Taubman
deceased together with such other and further relief in the premises as to
your Worship may seem meet and our petitioners will
pray.
Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at an Eccl Court to be
holden at Douglas on Friday next whereof all proper parties and persons
to have due notice.

At an Eccl Court held in Douglas on the 17th day of May 1867
Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties or their advocates
administration de bonis non with the will annexed of Edward Moore
Taubman deceased was granted to John Corlett as prayed for and the
Archdeacon's Registrar is hereby required to extend said grant on the
original will of said Edward Moore Taubman deceased recorded in said
Registry with Testamentary Book for the year 1832. Thos C. Callow
In the name of God Amen.
I Edward Taubman of the parish of Ballaugh being of sound and disposing mind
memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this transitory
life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
as follows:
First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
I will and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Taubman (alias
Teare) the whole of the portion promised in marriage the best mahogany
bedstead and hangings, a feather bed, and bedclothes, the chest of drawers
she brought to the house and set of china tea things etc and the sum of one
hundred pounds British..
I will and bequeath to Thomas Taubman the sum of ten pounds British.
I will and bequeath to my brother James Taubman all and singular the
whole of my property and concern of houses and intack land vis my half
or moiety of that meadow know by the name of Close e Varley in the parish of
Ballaugh my half or moiety of that meadow lately purchased
from Patrick Cannell in the parish of Lezayre and my half or moiety of that
Curragh known by the name of Bonbwies Curragh in the parish of Lezayre
together with the whole of the stock belonging to the said
concern of houses and lands but being subject to the legacies left upon
me in my father's will and also to pay Mr John Teare for barley delivered.
I also nominate constitute and appoint my said brother James Taubman
to be executor of this my last will and testament and residuary legatee
of all and singular the rest or remainder of my goods cash, chattels, and
effects of whatsoever denomination and lastly I will and bequeath to
those person's having any claim or title to any of my said property of
houses and lands the sum of five shillings British
In witness hereof I have subscribed my name this the 28th of Dec 1831.

At a Chapter Court holden at Kk Michael on the 21st day of May 1832. James
Taubman the executor of the last will and testament of Edward Moore Taubman
deceased is sworn in court in form of law well and truly
to execute the foregoing will to pay all his just debts legacies and
funeral expenses so far forth as the goods and effects will extend and
the law bind him. And to these ends Thos Quayle one of the witnesses of the
will and Thomas Teare both of the parish of Ballaugh have entered
into a bond unto the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann in the sum of Two
Thousand Pounds British.
Probatum Est John Nelson and B. Philpot
17 Apr 1846 Thos Taubman received his legacies of ten pounds
Pledges Richard Teare of Glentrummon in the parish of Lezayre and Thomas
Teare of Douglas in the parish of Braddan.
