The Last Will and Testament of Esther Killip of Ballachurry in the parish of Andreas
who being of a sound disposing mind and memory in the making thereof but knowing the frailty
and uncertainty of human life and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die. I First
commit and ____ my soul unto almighty God who gave it and my body to decent Christian
burial at the discretion of my executor and as for such worldly goods wherewith it has pleased
Almighty God to bless me and dispose of the same in the following manner.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto my son Robert a cow.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Esther Radcliffe alias Killip the sum of fifty pounds
British which being a mortgage upon Henry Craine croft in Ballaugh comonly known by the
name of crot ny gorlage with the interest thereon.
Item: I leave and bequeath unto my Daughter Catherine Crennell alias Killip the sum of five
shillings British as her legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Killip and Margaret Killip a new dwelling
house in the town of Douglas share and share alike with a feather bed and bedding each. But if
their father Robert Killip thinks proper I give unto his daughter Margaret the sum of one
hundred pounds British then and in that case Jane Killip is to have the house to herself and
Margaret to have no right or title thereto and both Jane and Margaret to enjoy their legacys
when going from under their fathers care.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Killip the sum of Fifty pounds British with a feather
bed and bedding as her legacy and to have the above when removing from under her fathers
care.
I leave and bequeath unto my three grandchildren namely John Radcliffe, William Radcliffe and
Robert Crennell three pounds British each as their legacies.
Lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my well beloved husband Robert, Killip whole and
sole executor of this my last will and testament and of all the rest of my goods movable and
immovable of what kind and description so ever together with a parcel of land called close
Chirrgan in Lezayre which we purchased from George Kayles to be by him peaceably
enjoyed. In witness whereof I here unto subscribe my name this 4th day of August 1832.
