In the name of God Amen.
I John Mond Senior of the town of Ramsey being weak
in body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding
doi make, publish, and declare this my last Will and Testament
in manner following. First I commend my soul to almighty
God who gave it and my body I commit to the Earth to be
decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after
named. Whereas my sister Mrs. Sarah Slaughter some
time ago deceased made provisions by her Will for all
my children except my son John Monk Junior. And
whereas upon the death of my son Wm. Monk which
happened some short time ago it is presumed that I
became entitled unto such property as was vested in
him under this Will of the Sarah Slaughter as well
as all other property to which he was entitled, but
subject to the payment of his just debts. In order
therefore to put my son John Monk on a more equal
fotting with his brother and sisters so far as lied in
my power I hereby Give Devise and Bequeath
to him my son John Monk all such property
and effects in reversion or expectancy as I became
entitled to on the death of my son William
as also such other property Goods Chattels and
Effects as I may die popeped[sic] (possessed?) of or entitled to in
reversion remainder or expectancy, to my said
son John paying thereout or out of the _____ in
proceeds thereof (after deducting all lawful
demands of the same) to my much beloved wife
Prestwood Cove Monk reasonable interest out of
the same so long as she lives. And lastly I hereby
nominiate, ordain and appoint my son John
Monk sole Executor of this my Will – In writings
whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this
9th day of January one thousandEight hundred
and Thirty-three.

At a Chapter Court holden at Ramsey
on the 22nd day of May 1833
John Monk the Executor in the foregoing
Will named, is sworn in Coiurt in form of
Law well and truly to execute the last Will
and Testament of John Monk Sr. deceased
to pay all his just Debts and Legacies so far
as the goods and Effects will extend and the
Law bind him and to do all other acts and
things pertaining to the Office of Executor
according to Law – and to these ends he
has given Pledges, namely, Thomas A.
Corlett Esqr. Advocate, one of the witnesses
of the Will and Ewan Clark of the town
of Ramsey.

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents, that We thos. A. Corlett
of the Town of Ramsey
and
Ewan Clark of [same] Town
are held and firmly bound
to to Rev. B. Philpot, Archdeacon of Sodor and Mann, and this Successors, in
the Sum of One thousand Pounds Brit
British; to the Payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind Ourselves,
our Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, jointly and severally, by these
presents, to the said Archdeacon and his Successors.
Witness our subscriptions, this
22nd day of May 1833
WHEREAS the ECCLESIASTICAL COURT of this Island hath this Day
granted Probate of the will of Jno Monk Senior
of the Town of Ramsey,
deceased, to John Monk Junr and
NOW THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such, that if the said Jno Monk
shall well and truly administer the Estate and Effects of the said Jno Monk
deceased; and shall
in all Things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this Isle, the Orders of the
Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath[es]
hath this day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to be and
remain in full force and virtue in Law.
