In the Name of God Amen
I Margaret Kermode otherwise Killip wife of Daniel Kermode Joiner near
Laxey in the Parish of Lonan being very sick and weak in Body but of
perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God do make and ordain this my
last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I
commend my soul to all might God who Gave it and my Body to the Earth to be
Buried after a christian manner and as for my worldly goods and Effects I
dispose of them in the following manner
I leave and bequeath unto my Two Sons namely John and William Kermode Eight
pounds Each British money to be paid unto them by my Executor when they
severally comes to age
also I leave and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Kermode Fifteen pounds
British to be paid her also when she comes to the age of Twenty one years
and in case either of the fore named children would Die before he or she
would receive the afore named sums the surviver or survivers shall receive
and enjoy the same
I give two shillings and six pence to any person or persons that hath a
right to claim in this my last will and Testament
Lastly I nominate and appoint my well beloved Husband Daniel Kermode my
whole and sole Executor of all my Houses Furniture credits and Effects
Goods and chattles whether movable or immovable and I do hereby revoke and
disannul all former wills ratafying and confirming this and no other to be
my last will and Testament as witness my name and mark this the 12th Day of
November 1835

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas on the 10th day of June 1836
Daniel Kermode the Executor in the foregoing Will named is sworn in Court
in form of Law well and truly to execute the last Will and Testament of
Margaret Kermode deceased to pay all her just Debts and Legacies so far
forth as the goods and effects of the deceadent will extend and the Law
bind him and to return a true and perfect Inventory of the same into the
Archdeacon's Registry when thereto lawfully required and to do all other
acts and Deeds pertaining to the office of Exor according to Law and to
these ends he has given Pledges namely the witnesses of the Will
He is also sworn Guardian and Supervisor of his children under age
Probatum est

Whereas Margaret Kermode otherwise Killip First wife of Daniel Kermode
Joiner Laxey did by her last Will and Testament bearing date the 12th day
of Novr 1835 amongst other things therein contained bequeath to his son
William Kermode Eight pounds when he came of age
And Whereas at a Chapter Court held at Douglas on the 10th day of June 1835
the said Will was duly proved and probate thereof granted to Daniel Kermode
the executor named therein who died and appointed his Wife Eleanor Kermode
his Executrix who upon paying the above named legacy has called for a
Receipt and discharge for the same
Now Know All Men by these presents that I the said William Kermode the
legatee above named do hereby own and acknowledge to have been paid and
satisfied by the said Executrix Eleanor Kermode Exx of sd Danl Kermode the
sum of Eight pounds Sterling money in full judgment satisfaction and
absolute discharge of the aforesaid legacy of Eight pounds and any and all
interest due thereon down to the date hereof. and do exonerate release
acquit and discharge the said Executrix Eleanor Kermode her executors and
Administrators, the estate of the said deceased and every person whomsoever
of and from all further Claims or demand on account of the aforesaid legacy
of Eight pounds and every part thereof And do Will and direct that the said
legacy be and do stand cancelled on the said Will on Records. As Witness my
subscription this 23rd day of May one thousand eight hundred & seventy four
