Santan
This is the last will and testament of me Christopher Gick Shoemaker at
Ballacostean in the parish of Kirk Santan. I am of sound and disposing
mind memory and understanding but very weak and feeble and seriously
considering that my desolution draweth near through which I make
publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner
following:
First I leave and bequeath my soul to Almighty God my Saviour and my
body to decent Christian burial and that my just debts and funeral expences
be paid by my herein named executrix.
I leave and bequeath unto my dear father and my dear mother the sum of ten
pounds British.
I leave and bequeath unto my two brothers namely William and Robert
Gick one shilling each.
I leave unto my sister Elizabeth one shilling
I leave unto my sister Isabella one shilling
I leave unto my sister Esther one shilling
I leave and bequeath unto Elizabeth Clague my sister's daughter the sum
of one shilling.
Debarring all other friends and relations that may have any pretence or
claim to my will with six pence each legacy.
Lastly I nominate appoint constitute order and ordain Ann Gick alias Cain my
dear loving wife to be my whole and sole executrix of all and singular the
rest residue and remainder of all my effects real and personal moveable and
immoveable wheresoever or of what kind soever of every description -
revoking all other wills and ratifying and confirming this
and no other to be my last will and testament requesting that the witnesses
hereunto do bear witness of the same in testimony hereof I do subscribe my
name this sixth day of March one thousand eight hundred
and thirty seven March 6th 1837. Christopher Gick

At a court holden this 29th of March 1837 in Douglas John Callister and
William Clague of St Ann were (by petition from Ann Gick widow of
Christopher Gick - she declines taking on herself the office of executrix)
sworn in her stead faithfully to administer to the estate and effects of her
deceased husband Christopher Gick to pay his just debts, legacies,
and funeral expenses to return a full and perfect inventory of his good
and effects and render an account of all acts and deeds done by them to the
Episcopal Registry whenever there unto legally required and to do all acts
and deeds as administrator with the will (which was proven in
court) annexed according to law and for which they have given pledges Paul
Bridson of Ballaquiggin Thomas Clague of Mary Voir and Thomas
Gick of Ballavartin in the parish of St Anne in the sum of one hundred
and fifty pounds.
