In the name of God Amen
I John Crellin of the Knockbreck in the parish of German being at present of
sound mind memory and understanding and being desirous to settle my worldly
affairs do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and
form following:
First I commit my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial. Secondly
I leave devise and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Callister the sum of
twenty pounds to be free from and beyond the control of her husband
John Callister in any way and not to be subject or liable to be attached
for any debt or debts which he the said John Callister has or shall
hereafter contract and that her receipt only shall be a sufficient
discharge in the payment of the said legacy.
Thirdly I leave devise and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Crellin a
certain parcel of curragh land situate in the parish of Marown and known by
the name of Curragh Glass adjoining the rent of Mr Dale on the West, the
rent of John Kelly on the North and South the rent of John Moore Esqr on the
East if not otherwise disposed of by me before my decease. Fourthly I leave
devise and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Bissit wife of William Bissit of
Sheffield the sum of fifty pounds also one half or
moiety of a certain piece of land with one half of the houses thereon
erected being part of the quarterlands of Ballavarkish and Knock breck
situate in the parish of German purchased by me off John Kelly and
Ceasar Crellin and adjoining the main Road leading from Douglas to Peel
on the North the road crossing the curragh on the West, the rent of Cesar
Wattleworth on the South and the rent of James Burman Esq on the East with
all ways waters water courses easements liberties and
appurtenances thereunto belonging - subject nevertheless to a life
interest of the whole of the rent thereof for my wife Elizabeth Crellin
during  her natural lifetime if the said Elizabeth should survive me.
Also one quarter or one moiety of my half of a certain meadow situate in the
said parish of German the same being intack land and adjoining the
rent of Nicholas Kewley on the North the rent of Thomas Mylechreest on the
West the rent of John Quane late deceased on the South and the Road crossing
the curragh on the East  - subject nevertheless to one quarter
of the mortgage thereon.  The said lands and premises to be her lawful
property.
Fifthly I leave devise and bequeath unto my son Edward Crellin my half
or moiety of those lands and premises situate in the parish of German being
parts of the Quarterland of Kerrowchord one part of which I
acquired by purchase from William Gell and Elizabeth his wife by Deed of
Sale dated June the twelveth, eighteen hundred and thirty or thereabouts.
And the other part of purchased at a Public Sale.  The boundaries being more
particularly described in the said deeds of Sale to hold unto him
the said Edward Crellin his heirs and assigns forever with all ways
waters watercourses rights or appurtenances thereunto belonging.  But
in case he, the said Edward Crellin, should depart this life without
lawful issue or without having lawfully disposed of the said lands and
premises then and in that case the said lands and premises will go to my son
Richard Crellin during his natural lifetime and to his heirs after his
decease reserving nevertheless an annuity of eight pounds per annum for my
wife Elizabeth Crellin during her natural lifetime if she the said Elizabeth
Crellin should survive me to be paid unto her the said Elizabeth Crellin
yearly out of the rents or issues of the said lands and premises hereby
devised.
Sixthly I leave devise and bequeath unto my son Ceasar Crellin the sum
of two shilling and six pence.
Seventhly I leave devise and bequeath unto my son Richard Crellin the sum of
two shillings and six pence.
And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my two daughters Eliza Quinney
and Sarah Bissit jointly whole and sole executrixs of this my
last will and testament and residuary legatee of all the rest residue and
remainder of my personal property hereby debarring all other persons
who may claim in this my will with a legacy of two shillings and six
pence each.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this the thirty
first day of August eighteen hundred and fifty three.

John Quinney and William Bisset the respective husbands of the executrixes
sworn with pledges Caesar Crellin and John Moore who have executed the usual
bond in the presence of the court.
