The humble petition of Sarah Creer widow and relict of Edward Creer
late of the town of Douglas Mariner but now deceased.
Sheweth:  That your petitioner's late husband departed this life on the
morning of the 5th day of August instant leaving your petitioner and four
infant children him surviving.
That your petitioners said husband Edward Creer who at the time of his said
decease well entitled unto signed and possessed of certain homes goods
chattels and effects within the Diocese of Sodor and Mann whereof he did
possess has been made he the said Edward Creer having died intestate.
That your petitioner is desirous of obtaining administration of the
estate of the said Edward Creer and the guardianship of his surviving
children and your petitioner is ready and willing to tender to your
Reverence ample security for the administration of such offices. Wherefore
your petitioner humbly prays a hearing of this petition and
that your Reverence will be pleased to appoint and swear your petitioner
administratrix of the estate of the said Edward Creer deceased and guardian
of the said children of your petitioner and the said Edward
Creer and she will pray.

At a court holden at Douglas the 20th day of August 1838.
Sarah Creer is sworn well and truly to administer the estate and effects of
Edward Creer deceased (and guardian of Joseph, Mary Ann, Edward and Henry
Creer children of the said Edward Creer deceased) to pay all his
just debts and funeral expenses so far forth as the goods extend and the law
bind her and to return a true and perfect inventory of the said deceased's
estate and effects and of her acts and proceeding in the premises unto the
Episcopal Registry of this Diocese when thereto
lawfully required and to these ends Thomas Creer and Nicholas Dickinson have
become bound unto the Lord bishop and his Successors in the sum of four
hundred pounds British.
