	To the Rev. F.B. Hartwell one of the Chancellors
	and Vicars-General of the Diocese of Sodor & Mann

		The humble Petition of Thos.
Corlett Esq.

Sheweth 
	That on the 20th Oct. 1837 Mrs. Prestwood
	Cove Monk of the Town of Ramsey departed this
	life but furst made her Will in writing and
	thereof appointed John Monk her son sole Exet.
	as by the ? Will may appear.

	That the sd John Monk was at the time of 
	the death of the sd Prestwood C. Monk and is
	abroad and beyond seas, but your Petit. has
	a Power of Attorney with full and ample power
	to transact all his business and affairs in
	this Island, and it has become necessary that
	the ? Will shd. be received and probate
	granted thereon.

	Wherefore your Petit. prays a 
	hearing hereof and that upon
	proof of the Execution of the
	? Will the same may be
	received and Probate granted
	thereon in due form of Law
	and your Petit. shall pray.

Ordered that this Petition do come on to be heard
before  ? at an Eccl. Court to be held in 
Michael on Thursday inst the 31st inst. whereof
all proper parties and persons to have due notice.

Upon hearing this Petition and upon examining the
writings to the Will in this Petition mentioned I am
of opinion Probate ought to be granted on the ? ?
in due form of Law and the same is thereon(?)
ordered and adjudged accordingly.

I Prestwood C. Monk wife of J. Monk Senior of the Town
of Ramsey being of sound disposing mind memory and
understanding do make and publish this my last will
and Testament in manner following.- First I commend
my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave
it and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently
buried at the discretion of my Exut herein after
named.  I give and devise to my son John Monk
all property Goods and Effects which I have in
? reversion and ?.  And lastly
I nominate and appoit him my Executor and
Residuary Legatee – in writing whereof I have in
hereunto subscribed my name this 9th January in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
thirty-three.

Edmund Gill and Thomas A. Corlett the
subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper
writing having made oath on the holy
Evangilists that Prestwood Cove Monk the
Testatrix whom of sound disposing mind
memory and understanding duly signed
and executed the same as and for her
Last Will and Testament and John
Monk the Executor being off this Island
and abroad beyond seas since and prior
to the death of the Testrix Thomas A. Corlett
his agent or attorney in this Isle is therefore
sworn in trust well and truly to execute
the ? Will to pay all debts Legacies and
funeral expenses of the Testatrix so far forth
as the Goods will extend and the Law
bind him to return a true and faithful
account of his proceedings in the Promise
to the proper Registry when thereunto
lawfully required and to that end hath
given pledges namely John Andrew
and the Rev. A. Holmes who have entered
into a Bond to that effect in presence
of the Court.	
			Probatum est.

I Amelia Monk one of the next of kin of Mrs. Prestwood
Monk some time ago deceased hereby signify my
consent and approbation to probate being granted
on the Will of  the ? Prestwood Monk at the next
Consistory Court and for T.A. Corlett Esq. to be 
sworn Exec in trust thereunder for the benefit
of the Executor therein named.  Writing
my name this 30th January 1839.

We Samuel Harris and Prestwood Harris
alias Monk hereby signify our consent to the Will
of Prestwood Cove Monk being received at the
next Consistory Court and Probate being granted
therein in due form of Law as witness our sub
scriptions this Twenty ninth day of January one
thousand eight hundred and thirty nine 1839.

	Know all Men, by these Presents, that We, John Anderson
					of Ramsey
in the Parish of Maughold and
the Revd. Archd. Holmes Esq. of Ramsey
in the Parish of Maughold are held and firmly bound
to James Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann, and his Successors,
in the Sum of Two Hundred pounds 200
British; to the Payment wereof well and truly to be made unto him the said
Lord Bishop, and his Successors, we bind Ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, and
Administrators, jointly and severally, by these Presents.

	Witness our subscriptions, this
	31st Day of Jany. 1839

	Whereas the ECCLESIASTICAL COURT of this Island hath this Day
granted probate of the Last Will & Testament
of Prestwood Cove Monk
deceased, to Thomas Arthur Corlett Esquire.

	NOW THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such, that if the said
Thos. Arthur Corlett
shall well and truly administer the Estate and Effects of the said
Prestwood Cove Monk deceased; and shall
in all Things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this Isle, the Orders of
the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath he
hath this Day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to
be and remain in full Force and Virtue.
