The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Key who departed this life the 3 
day of July 1840.
First of all I Bequeath my Soul to God and my body to the ground and 
Secondly I Bequeath all my goods moveable and immoveable to my wife 
Margaret Key only if she is to give to all my children the sum of five shillings 
each this my Last Will and Testament in presence of us.  Witness our 
names this the 6 day of July 1840.

At Ramsey the 11th December 1840
The foregoing [nuncupative] Will of Patrick Key having been duly proved 
at a Chapter Court held in Kirk Michael on the 26th November last by Ann 
Fargher and Elizabeth Caine the witnesses thereto Margaret Key the 
Executrix therein named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and 
execute the same to pay all just debts legacies and funeral expenses of the 
deceased so far forth as the goods will extend and the Law bind her to 
return a true and faithful Inventory of the said Goods and Effects with an 
account of her acts and proceedings in the [pursuits] to the  Episcopal 
Registry where thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she hath given 
pledges namely John Quayle and John Key who have executed and proved 
to that effect in presence of the Court.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this Day granted 
probate of the Last Will and Testament of Patrick Key late of Kirk Patrick 
deceased, to Margaret Key the Executrix therein named.
And Whereas John Quayle of Ballelby in the Parish of Kirk Patrick and 
John Key of the Borain in the Parish of Kirk Patrick have agreed to 
become pledges to the said Margaret Key.
Therefore, know all Men by these Presents, that, We, the said John Quayle 
and John Key hereby bind and oblige ourselves, and our Executors, and 
Administrators, as Pledges to the said Margaret Key for the due and 
faithful Administration of the Goods and Effects of the said Deceased, 
according to Law, Witness our Subscriptions this 11th day of December 
1840.
