By Will of God Amen
This twenty eighth day of February one thousand
eight hundred and forty two
I Robert Knowles miner of the Parish
of Lonan Isle of Mann - Being very sick
and weak in body but sound in mind
and memory thanks be to God for the same
knowing the frailty of our nature and that it
is appointed unto man once to die, I do by this
my last Will and Testament, first committ
my soul to Almighty God and my body into
Christian burial in certain hope of their uniting
again at the Resurrection. And as to my worldly
effects I dispose of them in manner following
I bequeath all my goods and chattels of whatsoever
I am possessed unto my beloved wife Elizabeth
and unto my only son John unitedly to be by
them made use of in such manner as they
may think fit. Signed and delivered
this twentyeighth day of February one thousand
eight hundred and forty two in presence
