In the Name of God Amen
I Catherine Taubman wife of Thomas Taubman of the Parish of Ballaugh 
considering the uncertainty of this life and being of a sound mind memory and 
understanding do make this my last will & Testament in manner and form 
following
First	I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial
I Give devise and bequeath to my dear Husband Thomas Taubman for and 
during the term of his natural life my right and share in the following properties 
which my sd- Husband purchased that is to say in the whole of certain houses 
and lands of Carmodyl beg situate in the said Parish called and Known by the 
name of Johny Harris Houses & Gardens outbuildings and Lands, also in the 
whole of certain premises consisting of a dwelling House & Garden 
outbuilding & lands of the quarterland of Cra..n in the said parish at present 
occupied by saml- neale also in the whole of certain other premises consisting 
of a Dwelling House & Garden outbuildings & lands of the Quarterland of 
Ballamooar in the said parish lately the property of Thomas Corlett and also 
the whole of my share of and in certain parcels of Curragh Intack land situate 
in the said parish called & known by the name of Anthony's Curragh and 
Drinkwater's Curragh To Hold the said several premises (without 
empeachment…………..) unto the said Thomas Taubman or take and receive 
the rents issues & profits thereof for his sole use and benefit during his natural 
life time aforesaid
And I give and devise to my son William Taubman in case he should survive 
my said Husband and to the Heirs and assigns of my said son my share and 
right in the said Houses and Lands of this quarterland of Carmodyl beg called 
Johny Harris Houses and Gardens with the appurtenances To Hold in that 
case unto him the said William Taubman his Heirs and assigns for ever which 
said devise is to be considered additional to any other provision which my 
Husband and I have made or may make in his favour by Deed of settlement 
or otherwise ---
Also I Give and devise unto my son Henry Taubman in case he also should 
survive my said Husband and to my said son Henry's Heirs and assigns my 
whole share and right in the said Dwelling House & Garden outbuilding & 
lands of the quarterland of Cra..n To Hold in that case to him the said Henry 
Taubman his Heirs and assigns for ever ---
Also I Give and devise to my son John Taubman in case he should in like 
manner survive my said Husband my whole share and right in the said 
Dwelling House & Garden outbuildings & lands of the quarterland of 
Ballamooar late the property of Thomas Corlett together with the whole of my 
share of and in the said two parcels of Intack land known by the name of 
Anthony's Curragh and Drinkwater's Curragh To Hold in that case to him the 
said John Taubman his Heirs and assigns for ever which devise is to be 
considered additional to any other provision which my sd- Husband and I 
have made or may make in his favour by Deed of settlement or otherwise But 
in the event of any of the said named sons dying before my said Husband, I 
then Give Devise and bequeath the specific parcels of lands Houses and 
premises aforesaid to which he or they would have been entitled had he or 
they survived my said Husband unto and between my son Edward Taubman 
and daughter Margaret Taubman Catharine Taubman and Elizabeth 
Taubman if then living or the survivors or survivor of them together with my 
other said named surviving sons or son To Hold the same unto such my said 
surviving sons or son and daughters or daughter and their his or her Heirs 
and assigns respectively for ever in equal shares and proportions share and 
share alike or in entirety if one only such child then survive as the case may 
be.
Also I Leave and bequeath unto my said daughters Margaret Taubman 
Catharine Taubman and Elizabeth Taubman in case any or either of them 
shouls survive my said Husband the sum of One Hundred and fifty Pounds 
Sterling each as Legacy together with a bed and bedding for each of them 
severally to be paid and delivered after my said Husband's death which 
pecuniary and other Legacies shall be payable as aforesaid besides any other 
provision in money land or other property which my said Husband and I have 
made or may make in their favour by Deed of settlement or otherwise ---
Also I Leave and bequeath unto my said son Henry Taubman in case he 
should survive my said Husband a Legacy of Twelve Pounds ten shillings 
Sterling to be paid after my said Husbands decease besides any other 
provision which my said Husband and I have made or may make in his favour 
by Deed of Settlement or otherwise ---
I Leave and bequeath unto my said son Edward Taubman in case he should 
survive my said Husband a Legacy of Thirty seven Pounds ten shillings 
Sterling to be paid after the decease my said Husband besides any other 
provision which my said Husband and I have made or may make in his favour 
by Deed of Settlement or otherwise, But in the event of any of my said named 
sons and daughters dying before my said Husband I Leave and bequeath 
whatever said Legacy or Legacies he or they would have been entitled to 
receive had he she or they survived my said Husband to and amongst my 
then surviving sons or son and daughters or daughter equally & 
proportionably share and share alike or in entirety if only one such child then 
survive as the case may be.  Provided nevertheless that it shall and may be 
optional and discretionary with my said Husband in his life time if he so thinks 
proper to advance any of the Legacies aforesaid or any portion or portions 
thereof unto our said named sons or daughters either or any of them, in which 
case the receipt or receipts of any of our said sons & daughters for such 
Legacy or Legacies or any portion or portions thereof shall be good & 
sufficient discharges in Law or Equity & shall so far be effectual to debar any 
of our sd- sons & daughters from claiming th same afterwards by right of 
survivorship or otherwise ---
Also I Leave and bequeath to my eldest son Thomas Taubman in case he 
should survive my said Husband for his use and behoof the whole of my 
share of the stock of Malt and Hops (if any) which may th…. remain or be in 
store for the use of my Brewery with all fixtures therein together with all the 
utensils for Brewing Ale and Beer Barrels or Casks, Coolers, tubs, Drays and 
other things of or belonging to the said Brewery Concern or the Malt house 
appurtenant thereto  But in the event of the said Thomas Taubman dying 
before my said Husband then I Give and bequeath the whole of my share of 
the said Malt & hops (if any so remain) together with the said Brewery fixtures 
utensils casks drays & other things so then belonging to the sd- Brewery 
Concern & malt house unto such person as may in that case by Deed of 
Settlement executed or to be executed by my said Husband and me become 
absolutely entitled to Have and possess the said Brewery & malt House ---
Also I Leave bequeath to my sd- sons and daughters a Legacy of five shillings 
each to be paid to them severally after my decease ---
And Lastly  I nominate constitute and appoint my said Husband Thomas 
Taubman sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and residuary 
Legatee of all and singular my Goods rights credits chattels money & effects 
or personal Estate whatsoever  In testimony whereof I do hereunto subscribe 
my name this 29th. day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight 
hundred and forty two 1842 ---

the presence of each other who at her request have become subscribing 
witnesses hereto  The words "without impeachment for ……" between the 27 
& 28th. lines of the first page  The word "other" between the 10 &11th. lines of 
the third page and the words my share of between the 23rd. & 24th. lines of the 
fifth page being also first inserted

At a Chapter Court held at Michael 15th- June 1843 –
	Thomas Taubman the Executor named in the Will is sworn in Court in 
form of Law will and duty to Execute the last Will and Testament of his late 
Wife Cath Taubman to pay all her just debts and Legacies [so far] forth as the 
Goods and Effects [will extend] And the Law bind him and to perform all the 
acts and ….. pertaining to the office of Executor according to Law – And  ….. 
ends hath given pledges for the payments of debts and Legacies Namely 
Thomas Taubman of Ballaugh  Br……. And John Craine of sd- Parish
