In the name of God, amen. I William Cain of Liverpool, a partner of Thomas Oxford, of the said place, carrying on business there as general brokers with the firm of Oxford & Cain, but at present of the parish of Kirk Braddan in the Ilse of Man, being of sound mind and memory and understanding at the time of the making of hereof, but considering the uncertainty of this life, do make this my last will and testament, in manner following, that is to say I commit my soul to God and my body to be bruried at the discretion of my executor hereinafter mentioned, but at as little expense as deceny will permit. I give and bequeath to Catherine Bradfoot, otherwise Catherine Broadfoot, my portrait which is at present in the possession of her father. I give and bequeath to my half-sister Eleanor Cain five pounds sterling. I give and bequeath to Matthias Cain of Douglas, baker, five pounds sterling. I give and bequeath the remainder of my estate real and personal to my brother Joseph Cain now or late of the United States of America in case he come forward to claim the same and in event of said Joseph Cain being now dead, then I give and bequeath the said remainder of my estate real and personal to and amongst the said Catherine Broadfoot, Eleanor Cain and Matthias Cain in equal share, save and except for my silver watch and silver guard, which I give and devise to William Cain, the son of the said Matthias Cain, and I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint the said Matthias Cain whole and sole executor and residuary legatee in trust of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me henceforth void and executed and I do declare this only to be my last will and testament as witness my hand this 24th day of May 1844.
